After a long wait, Sony has finally announced the release date for Ghost of Yotei: October 2, 2025. A new story trailer has been released, showcasing the main antagonists—six gang members that Atsu is determined to pursue. Known as “The Onryo’s List,” Atsu carries this list everywhere, using it to cleanse her blade of her enemies' blood.

In a PlayStation Blog post, Sony stated, “It’s been nearly five years since we released Ghost of Tsushima, and during that time, we’ve worked diligently to make Ghost of Yōtei a unique experience. Although the stories don’t connect, we feel it’s crucial to create a worthy sequel to Jin’s tale, and we can’t wait for you to embark on Atsu’s quest for revenge later this year.”

Ghost of Yotei retains the stunning visuals of its predecessor, with expansive views of the Japanese countryside and highly detailed representations of its architecture from the era. Similar to Ghost of Tsushima, Yotei follows a classic samurai film-style narrative that immerses players in the feeling of participating in an Akira Kurosawa movie.

Preorders for the game commence on May 2 at 10 AM ET. Sony is offering various editions, with all versions including a set of PSN avatars and an exclusive in-game mask. The standard edition of Ghost of Yotei is priced at $70, while the Deluxe Digital Edition, which includes additional in-game cosmetics and a set of maps for quicker ability unlocks, is available for $80.

For those interested in a physical collector’s edition, it will feature a replica of Atsu’s Ghost mask, measuring 6.8 x 5 x 5.9 inches and scaled to match the collector’s mask from Ghost of Tsushima. This edition will also include Atsu’s tsuba (katana handguard) and several other items, with pricing details to be announced later.

Ghost of Yotei: release date, trailers, gameplay, and more

Ghost of Tsushima was a remarkable conclusion to the PS4 era. Sucker Punch decided to venture into a new intellectual property, moving away from its previous titles such as Infamous or Sly Cooper, and focused on a more grounded and historically influenced narrative about the Mongol invasion of Tsushima Island. Naturally, many anticipated a continuation of the story, as that was merely a small part of the overall conflict. Indeed, a sequel is on the horizon, but not in the way expected. Ghost of Yotei has been announced, introducing significant changes while still adhering to what Sucker Punch regards as the essence of the series. Much like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Marvel's Wolverine, there is still much to uncover about this new title. Let’s explore together to learn all we can about this forthcoming PS5 game. There is a possibility Ghost of Yotei might also be in development for PC, but it is not expected to appear on any upcoming Xbox Series X or Switch game lists.

      Release date

Ghost of Yotei brings Ghost of Tsushima to a new setting in the coming year.

During the September 2024 State of Play presentation, Sucker Punch Productions revealed Ghost of Yotei, a continuation of 2020's Ghost of Tsushima, set to arrive on PlayStation 5 in 2025. This game features a new female protagonist named Atsu and takes place in 1603, over 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The story is set on Mount Yotei, part of Ezo, now known as Hokkaido. At that time, Mount Yotei lay outside of Japan’s governance, encompassing various environments including grasslands and tundra. The narrative appears to move away from the organized samurai clans featured in Tsushima, though further details have yet to be disclosed.

Concord’s rocky launch is less complicated than you think

Why wasn’t it free-to-play? Should Sony have given it away for free via PS Plus? Did the requirement for a PlayStation login hinder its success? Would it have potentially sold millions more copies if its characters lacked pronouns?

For the past week, discussions surrounding these questions—ranging from insightful to absurd—have circulated regarding Sony’s latest release, Concord. This live-service shooter, which launched simultaneously on both PS5 and PC, has faced an unusually difficult debut for a major Sony title. Although PS5 statistics are unavailable, it is having trouble attracting players on Steam. On its launch day, Concord peaked at only 697 concurrent players according to SteamDB. As of writing this, around 5 p.m. ET on a Wednesday, it has dropped to just 171 players. In comparison, Ubisoft’s often-
