Lucasfilm
The Star Wars Celebration has concluded with limited news regarding live-action series, apart from Ahsoka season 2. However, there's now a report of a new Star Wars TV series being developed by Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and his son, Nick Cuse.
According to Deadline, InSneider broke the news about this father-son duo working on the project for Lucasfilm. Currently, there are no details about the show's premise or its timeline within the Star Wars universe. The project is still in the early stages of development and marks the first collaboration between Carlton and Nick Cuse in Hollywood.
Carlton Cuse has an extensive background in the industry, with notable credits such as the cult series The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., Nash Bridges, Bates Motel, The Strain, Jack Ryan, and Netflix’s recently launched medical drama Pulse. Nick Cuse previously collaborated with Lost's other showrunner, Damon Lindelof, on HBO’s Watchmen and The Leftovers, along with other projects like Station Eleven and Masters of the Air.
Despite an early push for more scripted series on Disney+ at the decade's start, Lucasfilm has recently shifted its focus back toward reviving Star Wars on the big screen. In place of The Mandalorian season 4, Lucasfilm is set to release The Mandalorian & Grogu in theaters in May 2026. A first look at The Mandalorian & Grogu was presented at Star Wars Celebration, although the footage has not been made available online yet.
In additional Star Wars news, the franchise will commemorate its 50th anniversary in May 2027 with a brand-new standalone film, Star Wars: Starfighter. Shawn Levy will direct this movie, which will feature Ryan Gosling in the lead role. This will be the first live-action Star Wars project occurring after The Rise of Skywalker, although it remains unclear whether characters from that film will appear in Starfighter.

Star Wars alumni Daisy Ridley and Alden Ehrenreich are set to star in a romantic comedy together. Ridley, who portrayed Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and Ehrenreich, who played young Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, will share significant screen time in their upcoming film.
As reported by Deadline, they will headline director Donald Petrie's The Last Resort, a romantic comedy taking place in the Philippines. Petrie is known for directing previous rom-com hits like Miss Congeniality and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. His latest film, Little Italy, also a rom-com, featured Star Wars prequel actor Hayden Christensen in a leading role.

A new video for Andor season 2 teases a significant Star Wars event. The path to rebellion deepens in the upcoming season.
Disney unveiled a special look at Andor season 2, showcasing behind-the-scenes footage of the upcoming episodes along with interviews from the cast and crew. A particularly notable moment in the video features a scene set in Ghorman, highlighting a crowd of protestors united in their chants against Imperial forces.
In Star Wars lore, Ghorman is the location of the Ghorman Massacre, where in 2 BBY, Imperial forces opened fire on and killed a group of peaceful protestors. This tragic event prompted Senator Mon Mothma of Chandrila to resign from the Senate and denounce Emperor Sheev Palpatine. Mothma's resignation and subsequent speech became a rallying cry for freedom and a catalyst for the Rebel Alliance.

Kathleen Kennedy addresses speculation regarding her retirement from Star Wars and Lucasfilm.
Earlier this week, reports surfaced suggesting Kennedy had informed associates of her intention to retire from Lucasfilm by the end of 2025. Shortly after, Kennedy spoke with Deadline to dispel the retirement rumors and clarify her plans for the future.
"The truth is, and I want to make this very clear, I am not retiring," Kennedy stated. "I will never retire from making movies. I will die making movies. That is the most important thing to say. I am not retiring. What’s happening at Lucasfilm is that I have been in discussions with both Bob and Alan for some time about what eventual succession might look like."
