The Fantastic Four: First Steps has finally unveiled the initial glimpse of Julia Garner's Silver Surfer.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps | Official Trailer | Only in Theaters July 25
Marvel Studios has shown remarkable patience with its rollout for the Fantastic Four. The latest trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has finally provided a first glimpse of Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer.
“Are you the protectors of the world?” asks the Silver Surfer to Marvel’s First Family, before stating that Earth has been “marked for death.” Shalla-Bal, also known as the Silver Surfer, serves as the Empress of Zenn-La and the official herald for Galactus (Ralph Ineson), the cosmic entity that devours planets. Garner’s portrayal of the Silver Surfer features the iconic metallic skin and rides a surfboard-like platform.
The trailer also unveiled other significant elements. It confirmed that Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) is expecting her first child. While Reed Richard (Pedro Pascal), Sue’s husband, appeared cautious, Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) were noticeably enthusiastic, excited to become uncles.
“We can do this,” Sue reassures Reed in a private moment. “Nothing’s going to change.”

Regrettably for Sue, everything will change with the arrival of Galactus. Even the brilliant Reed cannot foresee the consequences, expressing doubts about humanity’s safety.
“We will fight it together,” Sue asserts passionately. “We will face this together as a family.”
The Fantastic Four: First Steps also features Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles.
First Steps introduces the Fantastic Four into the MCU. Previously, 20th Century Fox produced three Fantastic Four films in this century: 2005’s Fantastic Four, 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and the 2015 reboot, Fantastic Four.
Since the MCU’s version of the Fantastic Four is set in a retro-futuristic world inspired by the 1960s, don’t expect to see other MCU characters until perhaps the end or in the post-credits scene. The Fantastic Four are on a collision course with Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.), who will also feature in Avengers: Doomsday.
Matt Shakman directs The Fantastic Four: First Steps, with Kevin Feige producing, alongside executive producers Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis.
The release date for The Fantastic Four: First Steps is July 25.
