      In case you missed it, ChatGPT's memory has significantly improved. Recently rolled out to Plus and Pro users globally, the various models of ChatGPT can now reference nearly any previous conversation. While it doesn't retain every detail verbatim, it is able to recall key details, themes, and important points from almost any interaction you've had with it.

      It can feel a bit eerie at times, but this enhancement allows ChatGPT to assist with much more personalized tasks. OpenAI promotes this feature as a means to enhance its scheduling capabilities for use as a personal assistant or to aid in maintaining longer conversations over time. It’s also quite intriguing to see what insights ChatGPT can provide by sifting through your chat history, often yielding surprising answers.

      This prompt is a great way to test the boundaries of the memory function and serves as a reminder of how long you've actually been using ChatGPT. Mine traced back to mid-2024 and highlighted conversations I wasn’t even aware I had. While it’s not unusual to forget discussions with real people, it did reinforce how casually I've sometimes interacted with ChatGPT.

      Do I want it to remember all of this?

      Craft a story loosely based on me, set in a fantasy world.

      This one is really exciting. If ChatGPT understands the kind of choices you might make in certain scenarios (you can even provide additional context if you prefer), asking it to create a story about you can be a lot of fun. You can include friends and family, or place yourself in your favorite fantasy or sci-fi universe—whatever you desire.

      ChatGPT excels at generating somewhat entertaining short stories, so why not make yourself the hero in your next narrative?

      This prompt gives a more grounded, introspective response to the previous story-writing prompt, while still capturing the essence of the idea. Who are you? What’s your background? Where does this AI think your narrative is headed?

      ChatGPT excels at gathering information from context and is particularly adept at utilizing it to formulate responses. It's so skilled that it can often extract interesting insights from things you've said or the manner in which you've expressed them over time. The more conversations you've held with ChatGPT and the more personal your interactions, the more effective it becomes. You might be surprised by the insights it provides.

      It offered me some insights that typically emerge from months of therapy. While it doesn't replicate the experience of confronting personal challenges, it's fascinating that ChatGPT can identify aspects about us that we may not even recognize ourselves.
