The Noise Luna Ring serves as a smart ring that offers the convenience of a finger-worn lifestyle tracker, but its battery life is comparable to a smartwatch, which may turn what should be a user-friendly wearable into a hassle. However, do the features and data provided compensate for the limited battery duration? I’ve discovered the answer over the past few weeks.

      Noise Luna Ring: design

Noise has achieved the remarkable with the Luna Ring, as it has made a titanium finish resemble, and even feel, somewhat like plastic. I had to verify the material used in the Luna Ring's construction to confirm that my observations were correct, but indeed, it is titanium. The choice to make it exceptionally smooth and apply a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating appears to detract from its premium feel.

A PVD coating is intended to enhance scratch resistance, but don't expect too much, as even after just a couple of weeks, the surface of the Luna Ring has developed micro scratches. While these may not be visible from afar, they are quite noticeable up close. I’m wearing the Stardust Silver variant, though a black model, along with Rose and Sunlit Gold options, are also available. It comes in sizes ranging from six to 13, which is less diverse than the Oura Ring 4 and RingConn Gen 2.

I’m also puzzled by the dimensions of the Luna Ring. It’s noted to be 2.8mm thick and 8mm wide, similar to the Oura Ring 4’s measurements, yet its shape gives an impression of being bulkier between my fingers. Additionally, the finish has a slightly “sticky” quality, making me more conscious of the Luna Ring compared to other smart rings. While it’s not uncomfortable, it is noticeable, which can be just as inconvenient.

I appreciate the wave-like design on the ring's top and the completely smooth underside, much like the Oura Ring 4. The absence of nubbins to conceal sensors allows the smart ring to appear more conventional and feel more natural. I’ve worn it nearly 24 hours a day since I began testing it, with no allergic reaction or sweatiness noted in my finger. I chose a size 11, consistent with most other smart rings I've used, and it fits snugly and accurately. However, the Luna Ring's shiny, smooth, yet oddly sticky surface does not convey the essence of titanium, instead feeling somewhat inferior, which is a disservice to smart jewelry. This is regrettable, given that the overall design and build of the smart ring are commendable.

      Noise Luna Ring: functionality

The sensors located on the smooth underside of the Luna Ring track your heart rate, blood oxygen level, and skin temperature, thereby monitoring your sleep, activity, stress, and menstrual cycle. It also provides data on your respiratory rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), and step count, along with insights on sleep stages. You can manually log your calorie intake and hydration within the app as well.

The Luna Ring features a manual workout tracking option that allows you to monitor specific exercises like walking, running, cycling, badminton, soccer, tennis, and freestyle workouts. Additionally, it offers automatic workout tracking, which has been moderately effective. However, it quickly pauses, leading to multiple workouts being recorded in the app when all you’ve done is paused a walk or run for a short time.

Furthermore, there’s an AI coach named Luna, which is designed to provide personalized health recommendations. Since the Luna Ring is not a medical device, its advice is limited. For example, it can suggest general tips for low-calorie snacks, improving HRV, or crafting a workout plan. If you ask how to lower your resting heart rate, it might recommend more regular exercise and stress management. You can request a sleep analysis, but all it does is summarize existing data. I found myself not inclined to use Luna AI much.

      Noise Luna Ring: app usability

The app for the Luna Ring is well-structured and user-friendly. It features five options at the bottom of the screen, along with a vertically scrolling
