**Skylight**
Skylight offers a variety of smart display options focused on organization and scheduling. Last summer, it introduced the high-end Cal Max — a 27-inch smart calendar we described as a “streamlined smart display alternative.” Since its launch, Skylight has continuously updated the device with new features, and now a powerful addition named Routines is available across the Skylight Calendar range. This feature aims to simplify household tasks and foster positive habits within the family, transforming how users engage with the display.
The concept behind Routines is straightforward — it provides visual cues and an intuitive interface to easily monitor and complete household chores. These tasks can be set on a recurring basis, allowing you to schedule everything from a brief 15-minute reading session before bed to a few minutes each morning for your kids to brush their teeth. Routines can be personalized with different emojis and color-coding for easier tracking, and a delightful confetti animation plays when a task is marked as complete.
The feature includes a Parental Lock to prevent children from altering their Routines or reallocating tasks to others in the household.
Setting up Routines is easy. By pressing the Plus button to access the Add Task menu, you’ll find a new Routines option. From there, you can enter all the specifics of your Routine, including its frequency, the assigned profile, and any associated rewards for completing the task.
Unlike standard smart displays that combine entertainment and task management, the Skylight Calendar focuses solely on organization. It does not provide access to streaming apps like Netflix or YouTube but instead offers numerous ways to manage upcoming events and daily responsibilities. Skylight also introduced an AI assistant last year to assist with meal planning. Thus, while it may not serve as an entertainment center like the Echo Show 15, it is an excellent option for families seeking a distraction-free method to manage their busy schedules.

**Ring's New Smart Video Search Uses AI to Rapidly Scan Your Motion History**
Ring has announced a new AI-driven feature called Smart Video Search, currently in public beta testing. The aim is to simplify the process of locating specific moments in your video history by letting you input a text description of an event, which will then be used to search through your motion events for a corresponding clip.
Smart Video Search combines Ring AI with Visual Language Modeling (VLM) to swiftly navigate your video history based on text input. For instance, if you search for “red bicycle in the driveway,” your Ring app will automatically display any clips that show — you guessed it — a red bicycle in your driveway.
**Arlo Secure Introduces Strong New AI Features, Including Person and Vehicle Detection**
If you own an Arlo device, subscribing to Arlo Secure is highly recommended. Membership unlocks numerous additional features (like 30-day video history and smart activity zones), and with the introduction of Arlo Secure 5, signing up has become even more appealing. This updated platform now integrates new Arlo Intelligence (AI) to enhance your smart security system's capabilities.
With Arlo Secure 5, members will enjoy benefits like Person Recognition, Vehicle Recognition, and Custom Detection. The first two features allow you to name recognized faces and vehicles, ensuring that when one passes by your cameras, you’ll receive a personalized alert regarding who is on your property.
**Yale Smart Locks Receive Significant New Airbnb Integrations**
Yale smart locks have proven to be an excellent choice for Airbnb hosts, allowing users to create and share temporary codes with guests. The Yale Assure Lock 2, Yale Approach, and August Wi-Fi Smart Lock have recently undergone a significant update that bolsters their integration with Airbnb.
This new integration enables hosts to connect their smart locks directly to the Airbnb app, allowing it to automatically send unique door codes to guests along with other stay details. Previously, hosts had to manually create and send codes for each guest, but this process is now automated through the Airbnb app, making hosting more efficient than ever.
