Nautilus | Teaser | Premieres June 29 | AMC+
The deep ocean is beckoning in the initial teaser for Nautilus, a new adventure series inspired by Jules Verne’s classic novel, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
“This summer, embark on a new adventure and explore a new world beneath the waves,” the voiceover in the trailer declares. Shazad Latif takes on the role of Captain Nemo, an Indian Prince stripped of his heritage and family. After finding himself a captive of the East India Mercantile Company, Nemo seeks revenge against those who have wronged him.
Nemo implements his revenge-driven plan by commandeering a prototype submarine and fleeing into the ocean's depths with a group of fellow prisoners. He is on a quest for Viking treasure hidden at the Pillars of Halvar. However, the East India Mercantile Company is hot on Nemo’s trail, willing to do whatever it takes to thwart his mission.
The cast of Nautilus includes Georgia Flood as Humility Lucas, Céline Menville as Loti, and Thierry Fremont as Benoit. Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv, and Noah Taylor will make guest appearances.
Xavier Marchand and Anand Tucker are the developers and executive producers of Nautilus, while James Dormer is the writer and also serves as an executive producer for the series.
Originally, Disney+ announced the series, but it was later canceled as part of a cost-reduction strategy. AMC subsequently acquired the series for distribution in the United States and Canada, while Amazon is set to stream it via Prime Video in the UK and Ireland.
Nautilus comprises 10 episodes, with the first two slated to premiere at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, June 29. The series will air on AMC and AMC+, with new episodes released weekly leading up to the two-part season finale on Sunday, August 17.
