NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Thursday, April 10.
Connections is among the top puzzle games offered by the New York Times. In this game, you need to categorize a set of 16 words into four hidden groups by identifying the relationships between them. The puzzle refreshes every night at midnight, and each new puzzle presents a different level of difficulty. Similar to Wordle, you can track your winning streak and compare your scores with your friends.
Some days may be more challenging than others, just like other popular NYT games such as The Mini and Strands. If you're struggling to solve today's puzzle, consider checking out our Connections tips and tricks guide for effective strategies or look at the hints for today's Connections puzzle provided below. If you're still unable to solve it, we will reveal today’s answers at the end.
How to play Connections
Connections is a daily game centered on uncovering common links between words. Players need to select four groups of four words while making no more than three mistakes. Play now. [Link to gameplay]
You can play Connections on the New York Times website or through the NYT Games app available on iOS or Android.
In Connections, you will see a grid with 16 words — your goal is to organize these words into four groups of four by detecting the connections that unite them. These groups could reflect themes such as titles of video game franchises, book series sequels, hues of red, names of restaurant chains, and more.
There are usually words that could fit into multiple categories, but only one answer is completely correct. You can shuffle the grid of words to help you better observe potential connections.
Each group is color-coded. The yellow group is typically the easiest to identify, followed by green, blue, and purple.
Choose four words and click Submit. If your choice is correct, those four words will be eliminated from the grid, and the connecting theme will be revealed. A wrong guess counts as a mistake. You have only four mistakes allowed before the game concludes.

Who is the editor of the NYT Connections game?
Wyna Liu, who has been editing puzzles at The New York Times since 2020, edits Connections on a daily basis.
“A few months ago, a new task was assigned to me: Create the game boards for Connections, a category matching game that had recently received the green light and needed an editor,” Liu stated in an article explaining her process in June 2024. “Most of my puzzle experience has revolved around crosswords, so I was thrilled to take on something new. I’ve enjoyed discovering how puzzle editing unfolds once a game is officially approved and understanding how our team integrates into a larger framework.”
On the one-year anniversary of Connections’ launch earlier this year, Liu shared this TikTok about her favorite puzzles to date.
