Xbox plans to showcase The Outer Worlds 2 in a manner similar to Starfield at the Games Showcase 2025.
Obsidian Entertainment
This year’s Xbox Games Showcase is set to be streamed on Sunday, June 8 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET, immediately followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. If you have been eager for more details about the sequel to Obsidian’s 2019 quirky space RPG, this is your opportunity.
According to Xbox, this showcase will follow the trends of its 2023 and 2024 events, providing an in-depth look at the most significant game of the showcase — in this instance, Outer Worlds 2 — and will “take you inside Obsidian Entertainment, unveiling new gameplay, information, and insights from the developers.”
In addition to a more detailed look at Outer Worlds 2, the showcase will offer viewers “a glimpse at upcoming titles from various first-party studios, along with exciting new titles from our third-party partners worldwide.”
Outer Worlds
Unsure of when the show will broadcast in your timezone? Xbox has provided the following schedule:
PDT: June 8, 10 AM
EDT: June 8, 1 PM
BST: June 8, 6 PM
CEST: June 8, 7 PM
JST: June 9, 2 AM
AEST: June 9, 3 AM
As the event is digital-only, the only official places to watch are Xbox-approved channels. You can catch it on YouTube, Twitch, or Facebook, with livestreams available in both American and British Sign Language for those with hearing impairments.
As anticipated, Xbox remains vague about the exact games that will be featured in this showcase. Don’t expect much in terms of hardware updates, so temper your expectations for the rumored Xbox handheld. However, we can hope to see more information on anticipated titles like Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 + 4, Shadow Labyrinth, Marathon, among others.
Patrick Hearn covers smart home technology, including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, smart bulbs, and more.
Xbox Game Pass is coming to your LG smart TV
At CES 2025, LG and Microsoft announced that an Xbox app will be available on LG smart TVs later this year. This app is already functional on newer Samsung TVs, enabling users to try Game Pass Ultimate games through cloud gaming, even without owning an Xbox Series X or S console.
3 Xbox Game Pass games to enjoy this weekend (January 3-5)
While there are still discussions about Xbox's multiplatform strategy as we approach 2025, it’s clear that there is a solid lineup of first-party exclusives ahead. Iconic franchises like Doom and Fable are set to make a comeback with new games, and Obsidian Entertainment is set to release two choice-driven RPGs by year’s end. Given that we are in a bit of a lull with new Xbox Game Pass additions at the moment, I suggest subscribers to Microsoft's gaming service explore titles related to Xbox's major releases in 2025 this weekend.
Doom Eternal
Doom: Eternal - E3 2018 Trailer
Doom: The Dark Ages is scheduled to launch this year, continuing the modern Doom saga with a new first-person shooter infused with medieval elements. Thus, it’s a good idea to check out the other Doom titles available on Game Pass. While the entire series (except the VR version) is accessible through Game Pass, I recommend Doom Eternal, the latest installment. Released in 2020, Doom Eternal builds on the foundation laid by the 2016 reboot, offering intense action while making every encounter feel like a puzzle to solve, as players must figure out the optimal ways to defeat enemies, execute them for ammo recovery, and maintain health. It’s one of my favorite FPS games from recent times, and it will undoubtedly excite you for the series' return later this year.
3 games departing Xbox Game Pass you should try this weekend (December 20-22)
No new games are being added to Xbox Game Pass for the remainder of 2024. In fact, the service is set to lose some games at the end of the month. All titles exiting the service on December 31 are highly entertaining, featuring a mix of zany racing games, intense strategy games themed around human history, and silly fighting games controlled by adorable animals. These titles are worth exploring this weekend as they will soon leave Microsoft's gaming subscription service.
Lego 2K Drive
LEGO 2K Drive | Awesome Reveal Trailer | Coming May 19
Racing games are generally among the most accessible, making them an ideal fit for a Lego title. However, Visual Concepts and 2K went above and beyond with Lego 2K Drive by including expansive open environments filled with missions and minigames. Lego 2K Drive is a fun and casual arcade racer that doesn’t demand much unless players choose to invest time in building vehicles intricately. After this game leaves the service at the end
