Images of an AMD GPU that have leaked make me hope they are genuine.

A recent leak has revealed clear images of what might have been one of AMD’s outstanding graphics cards — the reference edition of the RX 9070 XT. AMD previously stated it didn’t create its own version, known as Made By AMD (MBA), which makes the appearance of this card all the more surprising. While I cannot confirm whether this is indeed a genuine GPU, I certainly wish it had made it to retail.

The leaked images emerged on Bilibili earlier today, showcasing what seems to be an RX 9070 XT GPU encased in a fully black shroud and kept in a sealed bag. It features three fans, but there’s not much more information to gather from these visuals.

The card was actually put up for sale in China, but since the listing has since been removed, it is likely that it was purchased at MSRP. The seller offered a one-year warranty and claimed that the card was free from damage. It goes without saying that such a transaction would not have been legal.

If the RX 9070 XT GPU is legitimate, it’s probable that it was distributed to AMD’s brand partners ahead of the launch of the RX 9070 XT/non-XT. Whoever acquired this card seems to have kept it and sold it, but since this MBA design was never officially released, selling it should not have occurred.

A few specifics are evident, including the serial number, which will certainly help AMD track down the seller — but this assumes the card is real, which remains uncertain. It certainly appears to be genuine, but one can never be sure with these cases.

These visuals make me wish AMD had made its own MBA cards. Such cards would retail at the suggested price and wouldn’t be subject to the price increases expected for the partner-manufactured RX 9070s. Some RX 9070 XT GPUs are selling for significantly more than the MSRP, and if AMD had released its own design, it would be a substantial advantage for gamers looking to spend no more than $600 on a new GPU.

AMD RX 9060 XT might not be the Nvidia-beating GPU we initially anticipated

A new leak suggests that AMD's RX 9060 XT might repeat the mistakes of the RX 7600 XT, while missing an opportunity to compete against rival Nvidia. Although the RX 9060 XT may not match up against some of the top graphics cards, it is set to be a mainstream card, which is good news for gamers. However, the downside, as often the case, could be related to VRAM.

As indicated in a listing with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Acer has registered several new trademarks for its upcoming GPUs. Notably, this includes the Acer Predator Bifrost RX 9060 XT OC in two variants: one equipped with 8GB VRAM and the other with 16GB.

Best graphics cards you can really buy right now

If you’ve taken even a brief look at the graphics card market recently, you might be feeling quite frustrated. The situation is tough, with Nvidia's new RTX 50-series cards being nearly impossible to find and exorbitantly priced on secondhand markets, while last-generation RTX 40-series cards are effectively sold out and no longer manufactured. AMD's best alternatives are also absent as we await the forthcoming release of the RX 9070 and 9070 XT — and we’re all hoping they will be available in decent quantities.

But if your PC has just failed or you’re hesitant about investing in a new GPU that could overheat its power connectors, what options do you have? While secondhand cards are always a possibility, it's a risky recommendation since you never know the history of those cards, or even if what you’re buying is just bait for scalper bots.

AMD FSR 4 uses AI to deliver up to 3.7x gaming performance

AMD has finally unveiled the technical specifications and pricing for its newest RDNA 4-based Radeon RX 9070 series GPUs. Following a somewhat lackluster announcement at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the company today hosted a special online event discussing architectural specifics and new features expected from the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards.

In conjunction with the launch of the Radeon RX 9000 series, AMD also announced significant updates to its upscaling and performance-enhancing technologies. FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4 signifies a notable shift in AMD’s strategy for image upscaling and frame generation, while HYPR-RX has received improvements for optimizing gaming performance.
