If you're aiming to save on an iPad Pro featuring an OLED display, consider investing in the M4 iPad Pro, as the M5 iPad Pro may not offer any significant new features distinguishing it from its predecessor. According to research from Meritz Securities, enhancements for the upcoming high-end iPad could mainly hinge on the M5 chip, with Apple likely reserving major updates for future iterations of the tablet series. Leaker @Jukanlosreve summarized the firm’s findings on X, detailing their insights into Apple’s current business trajectory. The brand highlighted its OLED display on the M4 iPad last year, which lent the tablet a lighter and thinner profile but also drove up the cost. The anticipated M5 chip, based on the 3nm ‘N3P’ process, is expected to bring only slight improvements over the earlier model. With design elements expected to remain largely unchanged, Apple may have modest expectations for its OLED display production for the iPad Pro. Partnering with Samsung Display and LG Display for OLED panel production, the initial projections suggested a requirement for over 9 million OLED panels for the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models combined. Ultimately, approximately 5.7 million units were delivered to Apple. Wccftech reported that Apple might postpone the M5 iPad Pro's launch until after the M5 MacBook Pro announcement. If accurate, the M5 iPad Pro could be delayed until 2026. However, this might actually be beneficial, as Pro-level devices would be priced similarly and could potentially compete with each other. Notably, Apple presented the tablet before the laptop in 2024 to highlight the new technology. Analysts suggest that the M5 MacBook Pro may also be a lackluster upgrade until Apple incorporates an OLED display into the Pro laptop series in future releases. Nevertheless, some reports indicate that Apple might utilize the M5 series to implement a complete software refresh across all its platforms, including macOS, iPadOS, and iOS, aiming for a consistent and practical look and feel inspired by the VisionOS software used in the Vision Pro headset.

The M5 MacBook Pro may be another uninspiring update

The recently announced 2024 MacBook Pro lineup isn't even available yet, yet there’s already speculation regarding the next two generations of the laptop series. There's talk that no noteworthy features will emerge on the Apple device until 2026. Rumors have been circulating that the MacBook Pro may transition from a mini-LED display to an OLED display in 2026, a topic that has been under speculation for months. Industry analysts, including Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young, have indicated that both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will continue to utilize mini-LED displays in 2025.

Without a doubt, the PlayStation 5 Pro is the most powerful gaming console ever. Set to launch next week, it promises "45% faster rendering" due to its enhanced graphics card and faster memory. However, it won't surpass a top-tier gaming desktop equipped with an advanced graphics card by any means. Yet, the PS5 Pro might outperform PCs in a specific area. This assertion remains uncertain, as AMD redirected me to Sony, who has yet to respond regarding the details of the PS5 Pro. However, I have some clues, and if you'll indulge me a bit of speculation, I have intriguing theories about how the PS5 Pro might hold an advantage over even the most powerful gaming PCs.

Over the past few weeks, numerous leaks have surfaced showing what are purported to be the upcoming M4 MacBook Pro. From images of retail packaging to comprehensive unboxing videos, the internet has been buzzing with information about the next MacBook Pro, even though Apple hasn't officially announced it yet. Despite the heavy media focus, some skepticism has surrounded the leaks—some deemed them too questionable to trust. However, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has recently lent credibility to the leaks by stating in his latest Power On newsletter: “I can confirm that these are indeed Apple’s upcoming M4 MacBook Pros.” Gurman is widely regarded as one of the most reliable and consistent Apple leakers, claiming to have sources well-connected within the company, so his validation carries significant weight.
