A leak regarding the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion hints at an additional camera and impressive AI capabilities.
Motorola is the newest brand to fully embrace the "AI on phone" trend for its 2025 lineup, following major companies like Google, Samsung, and almost every significant Chinese brand. According to a recent leak, Motorola’s forthcoming Edge-series smartphone is set to be one of its first non-foldable devices to feature the Moto AI stack.
Evan Blass, a known leaker, has shared what seems to be marketing images of the Moto Edge 60 Fusion, particularly highlighting the Moto AI branding in the leaked content. So far, the AI capabilities from Motorola have been limited to its current generation of foldable devices and the Edge 50 Ultra flagship model. It's also important to mention that the entire system is still in its beta-testing phase.
Introduced last year, Moto AI utilizes Google's artificial intelligence stack, which provides access to products like the Gemini assistant, the Imagen photo-creation model, and Google Cloud Vertex. Initially, Moto AI provided a Magic Canvas tool to transform text descriptions into creative images and a Style Sync feature that generates wallpapers based on users' outfits.
Through the ongoing beta tests, the range of AI features has expanded significantly, now taking on a more practical nature. A new Catch Me Up feature summarizes all unread notifications for users, while the Remember This feature allows users to add personal notes to the built-in Journal.
To access Moto AI, users can perform a gesture, take a photo, and use voice commands to save the content. The Journal, equipped with a search capability and memory function, enables users to recall saved items using natural language descriptions.
Additionally, a Pay Attention feature records voice conversations, automatically transcribes them, and summarizes the content. This method is somewhat similar to the functionality offered by Apple's Notes app following its Apple Intelligence update.
With the Edge 60 Fusion, it appears Motorola will include the full Moto AI toolkit right from the start. Regarding hardware, the new phone is expected to have three rear cameras, while its predecessor, the Edge 50 Fusion, featured two lenses: a 50-megapixel main camera and a 13MP ultrawide lens. The upcoming model will likely introduce a zoom camera. Leaked images confirm a main camera with optical stabilization at 50 megapixels on the Edge 60 Fusion, utilizing one of Sony’s LYTIA image sensors.
The vegan leather finish will continue into this generation, along with a new sea green color option that showcases a fresh textile-inspired surface on the back panel. In addition to the updated color palette, another notable design change is apparent on the Edge 60 Fusion.
Unlike the sloping vertical sides of the Edge 50 Fusion, its successor seems to feature a quad-curved display with symmetrical bezels on all sides. At first glance, it resembles the impressive OnePlus 7 Pro, with the exception of a centrally-placed selfie camera disrupting the seamless display appearance.
Details regarding the internals remain undisclosed, and there has been no announcement from Motorola about the official launch date for the Edge 60 series. However, if the arrival of the Edge 50 series is any indication, the new Edge series phones might be announced sometime in April this year.
