NYT Strands for today: clues, spangram, and solutions for Sunday, March 9.
Strands is a brand new daily puzzle offered by the New York Times. It provides a more challenging version of the traditional word search, requiring a sharp eye to solve.
Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be quite tricky on some days. There's no harm in seeking a little assistance at times. If you're feeling stuck and want to find the solutions to today’s Strands puzzle, refer to the completed puzzle below.
How to play Strands
Each Strands puzzle begins with the objective of uncovering the “theme words” concealed within the letter grid. To form words, drag or tap the letters; double-tap the last letter to confirm. When you identify a correct word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and will no longer be selectable.
If you find a word that isn't a theme word, it's still beneficial! For every three non-theme words you discover that are at least four letters long, you’ll receive a hint — one of the theme words' letters will be revealed, and you'll need to unscramble it.
Every letter present in the grid is utilized to spell out the theme words, with no letters shared. Each letter appears only once.
Each puzzle includes one “spangram,” a distinctive theme word (or words) that represents the puzzle’s theme and spans across two opposite sides of the board. When you identify the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The aim should be to solve the puzzle swiftly without relying on too many hints.

Today’s Wordle answer changed due to Roe v. Wade
There are occasions when Wordle players receive different answers based on the browser they utilize to access the game. Today happens to be one of those instances, but for a markedly different reason. The New York Times altered today’s Wordle answer due to its unintentional connection to the Supreme Court's forthcoming ruling on Roe v. Wade.
The initial answer for Wordle 324 was intended to be "fetus." Wordle creator Josh Wardle planned for that solution to release today over a year ago, long before The New York Times acquired the game during its peak popularity in January. Everdeen Mason, editorial director for New York Times Games, stated that the answer was changed to an entirely different one due to its proximity to the Supreme Court's leaked draft opinion last week, which included a proposal to overturn the 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade abortion ruling, causing widespread reactions across the nation.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut finally hits PC on March 30
Kojima Productions and 505 Games' Death Stranding Director's Cut will be released on PC on March 30, 2022. It will be priced at $40 for new players, though those who already own Death Stranding on PC can upgrade for a nominal fee.
Death Stranding Director's Cut is an improved version of auteur Hideo Kojima's most experimental game to date. It follows Norman Reedus' Sam Porter Bridges as he slowly traverses America in an effort to reconnect humanity. In our 2019 review of the game, Digital Trends remarked that "it won't sway those who critique Kojima and believe he should just focus on filmmaking, but the game's reflective social elements highlight his crucial role in the gaming industry."
