NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Monday, March 10.
Connections is regarded as one of the top puzzle games by the New York Times. In this game, your task is to categorize a set of 16 words into four secret (for now) groups by determining how the words are connected. The puzzle resets every night at midnight, with each new puzzle varying in difficulty. Similar to Wordle, you can track your winning streak and compare scores with friends.
Some days can be more challenging than others, much like other NYT Games favorites such as The Mini and Strands. If you’re struggling with today’s puzzle, take a look at our Connections tips and tricks guide for helpful strategies, or refer to the hints for today’s Connections puzzle below. If you’re still having trouble, we’ll provide today’s answers at the very end.
How to play Connections
Connections is a daily game focused on identifying common links between words. Players need to choose four groups of four words while keeping their mistakes to a maximum of three. Play now. [Link to game]
You have the option to play Connections on the New York Times website or through the NYT Games app available for iOS or Android.
In Connections, you’re presented with a grid of 16 words — your goal is to arrange these words into four sets of four by recognizing the connections that bind them. These sets may include themes like video game franchise titles, sequel series of books, shades of red, names of restaurant chains, etc.
Some words may appear to fit into multiple themes, but there is only one definitive correct answer. You can shuffle the grid to help clarify the potential connections.
Each group is color-coded: the yellow group is the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple.
Select four words and click Submit. If your selection is correct, those four words will disappear from the grid, and the theme connecting them will be revealed. An incorrect guess results in a mistake, and you are limited to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Who edits the NYT Connections game?
Wyna Liu, who has been editing puzzles for The New York Times since 2020, is responsible for editing Connections daily. Liu shared in an article explaining her work process in June 2024, “A few months ago, a new assignment came my way: Create the game boards for Connections, a category matching game that had just been approved and was looking for an editor. Most of my experience with puzzles has been with crosswords, so I was thrilled to try something new. I’ve enjoyed learning about the puzzle editing process once a game gets the green light and how our team fits into a broader ecosystem.”
On the one-year anniversary of Connections' launch earlier this year, Liu shared this TikTok showcasing some of her favorite puzzles so far: @thegamesteam ? happy one year anniversary to connections, our newest official NYT game ? #nytgames #nytconnections #nyt ♬ The Kite Live by Luisa Marion – luisa_marion_music
