If you're in the market for smart glasses and are torn between Meta's Ray-Bans and Amazon's Echo Frames, Apple might soon enter the competition with its own version. The tech giant from Silicon Valley is reportedly working on smart glasses akin to the former.

Mark Gurman, a journalist for Bloomberg, mentioned in his latest PowerOn newsletter that Apple's standalone smart glasses will incorporate AI, cameras, microphones, and high-quality audio features, similar to the Ray-Ban smart glasses from Meta, the parent company of Instagram and WhatsApp. These glasses are expected to be lightweight and closely integrated with the iPhone, allowing for all-day wear.

However, Gurman suggests that it may take Apple three to five years to finalize its smart glasses and introduce them to the market. Nevertheless, the company is actively exploring ways to turn this into reality.

Apple's ongoing discussion about its smart glasses development comes on the heels of the commercial struggles of the Apple Vision Pro headset, which has faced criticism due to its high price of $3,500, discomfort, and failure to meet performance expectations in the AR/VR sector. The company had also attempted to create AR glasses to rival Ray-Ban's smart glasses, but that project was abandoned after it didn't pass assessments and the development team altered its objectives continuously. If Apple ultimately pursues creating smart glasses with a design similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban offerings, along with Apple-specific enhancements, we may not see them until 2030.

Smart glasses and rings are currently leading trends in wearable technology, making it logical that CES 2025 would showcase various new models of each. What new product could be complete without a significant infusion of AI?

The newcomer Halliday has unexpectedly combined all three of these trends into a single compelling product for the tech trade show. Digital Trends spoke with the company's co-founder, Carter Hou, to learn more.

Looks like the iPhone 17 is set to feature a 120Hz display next year.

One of the main criticisms leveled at regular iPhones in recent times has been their absence of 120Hz displays, available in the Pro models since the iPhone 13 Pro in 2021. For example, although the iPhone 16 is praised as the best iPhone currently available, it still operates at a 60Hz refresh rate like many older models. However, this is predicted to change with the upcoming iPhone 17 series, which is scheduled to launch next year.

Industry insider Digital Chat Station has recently confirmed that all iPhone 17 models will boast a “high refresh rate” display. This aligns with a September report from display expert Ross Young, who indicated that the entire iPhone lineup will sport 120Hz displays next fall.

We understand the frustration with AI in Mail. Here’s how to revert to the old look.

The incorporation of AI into the iPhone was highly anticipated, seemingly more so by analysts and investors than the average user. Apple has integrated AI in all key areas of the iPhone, including Mail, Photos, Safari, notifications, and Notes.

However, not everyone is pleased with these updates. The redesign of the Photos app continues to test the patience of iPhone users. Similarly, the Mail app is becoming a source of frustration. Many users on Reddit and other forums have expressed their annoyance with the new categorization system that sorts emails into various categories.
