Ubisoft Connect is currently unavailable, preventing players from accessing their games.

Ubisoft's online PC launcher, Ubisoft Connect, is currently facing connectivity problems that are preventing players from accessing their games. The official Ubisoft Support team has acknowledged the situation but has not provided a timeline for when the service will be restored.

"We're aware of issues affecting connectivity in multiple games and are working towards resolving this ASAP."

The problems with Ubisoft Connect began earlier today, shortly after Rainbow Six Siege underwent scheduled maintenance. After the servers were back online, many players found themselves either unable to connect to the game entirely or stuck in limbo between rounds. Less than thirty minutes later, the issue escalated as Ubisoft Connect itself went offline. This has prevented players from logging into their Ubisoft Connect accounts and accessing their game libraries.

The Ubisoft Support account on X announced, “We’re aware of issues affecting connectivity in multiple games and are working towards resolving this ASAP.” There is no update yet on when the servers will be operational again, but the official X account will provide updates as they become available. The root of the issue seems to lie with the Ubisoft client itself rather than the games, as users can still log into the website. Some players even attempted to delete and reinstall Ubisoft Connect but were unsuccessful.

This outage comes just weeks after the PSN experienced nearly a 24-hour downtime in February, also locking players out of their game libraries. Being a digital-only platform, the downtime of Ubisoft Connect means that players cannot access any purchased games, regardless of whether they are online titles. While this outage is not expected to be as severe, it still poses a significant inconvenience for players who have invested in Ubisoft Connect and are now unable to play their games.

This RPG transforms my favorite part of Stardew Valley into a complete game.

It is a universally accepted fact that a good video game needs a fishing minigame. This long-standing side activity has appeared in various titles, from Final Fantasy XV to Hello Kitty: Island Adventure, as a brief escape from the main narrative. The problem is that whenever a fishing minigame is introduced, I often end up neglecting everything else, even saving the world, in favor of casting a line—unless the fishing minigame is poorly executed.

Indie RPG Sea Fantasy addresses this issue. Developed by METASLA, Sea Fantasy elevates the fishing minigame to the central focus. The game does away with turn-based battles, random encounters, and colorful mages. While there remains a delightfully absurd storyline about saving the world from impending doom, this time, your efforts revolve around the art of fishing. Don't ask too many questions about how that works. Sea Fantasy’s charming pixel graphics pay tribute to classic RPGs, while the game mechanics draw inspiration from an unexpected source: Stardew Valley.

Sony has once again region-locked a PC port that doesn’t require a PSN account.

Almost a year after its launch, Sony implemented a region lock on the PC version of Horizon: Forbidden West. Then, quite suddenly and without explanation, the company reversed its decision. Sony has yet to comment on the region lock, but it has made it clear that it does not intend to eliminate PlayStation Network account requirements, which limits access to games for players since not all countries allow the creation of PSN accounts.

A user named Mocha Joe first highlighted the restriction on SteamDB, prompting significant backlash on the forum. One user commented, "It's been frankly baffling watching Sony choose to continually score own goals from the sidelines this generation."

Three new Xbox Game Pass games to enjoy this weekend (January 24-26)

With a plethora of upcoming video games in February vying for your attention, including major titles like Civilization 7, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii, Xbox Game Pass has a selection of games launching soon to hold you over. Rather than inundate you with extensive experiences that you might not complete before February's releases, we’ve curated a collection of shorter games that you can finish before the month concludes. While these titles may not be particularly lengthy, they all offer unique features and shouldn’t be overlooked. If you're in need of something to play this weekend, any of these choices would be a solid pick.

Don’t forget, Xbox Game Pass just added a surprising new game on Thursday: Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. We'll be diving into that this weekend to see if it captures your attention.
