Samsung launches the One UI 7 beta for foldable devices and announces the timeline for the stable release.
Samsung initiated the beta testing program for the Android 15-based One UI 7 software in December. However, it has remained limited to a select few devices, with no specific launch date announced. This situation changed today.
The company has announced that the stable version of One UI 7 will be available in April. Additionally, starting tomorrow, more devices will be included in the beta testing program for users in India, South Korea, the UK, and the US.
Initially, Samsung began the testing with only the Galaxy S24 series and has rolled out several iterative software updates since then. Now, the latest foldable devices—the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6—are also being added to the list of test devices.
Furthermore, the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S10 series tablets, and the Galaxy A55 will join the One UI 7 beta testing program within the next month.
What features does One UI 7 provide?
One UI 7 serves as Samsung’s platform for integrating its Galaxy AI features into smartphones. It introduces functionalities such as Writing Assist, akin to Apple's Writing Tools, which provides system-wide capabilities like text summarization, format conversion, proofreading, and more.
Additionally, it includes call transcripts that automatically record and transcribe conversations. The Now Bar feature allows users to quickly access relevant activities, such as music playback, recording, and interpretation tools, directly from the Lock Screen.
Samsung has also revamped the Home Screen in One UI 7, with changes to the Lock Screen, widgets, and the camera app interface. In the camera's Pro mode, a new feature for controlling zoom speed has been introduced to facilitate smooth transitions.
A newly redesigned security dashboard enables users to monitor the safety status of all connected devices, along with providing actionable tips and pertinent warnings. Additionally, there is a new system that blocks USB access when the device is locked, and unknown locations will activate a biometric lock.
Regarding device compatibility, the update will be available for the Galaxy S21 and newer models, while foldable devices dating back to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will also receive the update in the upcoming months. Several models in the Galaxy A, Galaxy M, and Galaxy F series are also slated for the upgrade.
