How to enhance armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

      Survival should not be a surprising tip you need to master in Monster Hunter Wilds. While enhancing your weapons involves forging new ones with Gemma—made easier by the wishlist feature—the initial hours of Monster Hunter Wilds will require you to craft new armor sets to boost your defense. However, as you progress further into the story, you'll have the ability to upgrade your existing armor, allowing you to retain your favorite perks and skills linked to it. Here’s how to upgrade your armor and when you can do it.

      How to upgrade armor

      You’ll only be able to upgrade your armor after the early stages of Chapter 2. Once you reach the Oilwell Basin area and can access the forge again, Gemma will inform you about armor upgrades.

      To upgrade any piece of armor, enter the forge and navigate to the Forge/Upgrade Armor menu. Select the armor you currently have equipped that you want to enhance, and you’ll be able to choose Upgrade. This will open a new menu where you'll need to spend Armor Spheres to increase an armor's XP. Add enough Spheres to level it up, and it will become stronger.

      Normal Armor Spheres provide 10 points, Armor Sphere + gives 50 points, and Advanced Armor Spheres give 200 points toward leveling up. Keep in mind that each piece of armor can only be leveled up a limited number of times, so avoid using more expensive Spheres on gear that will max out before all points are utilized.

      Armor Spheres can be obtained as rewards from quests and assignments. You can check the quest information before accepting it to see if it offers any Spheres and what types.
