NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Sunday, March 2
Connections is considered one of the top puzzle games by the New York Times. The game challenges players to categorize a set of 16 words into four secret groups by discovering the relationships among the words. The puzzle resets every night at midnight, with each new puzzle offering a different level of difficulty. Similar to Wordle, players can track their winning streak and compare scores with friends.
Some days are more challenging than others — akin to the other favorites from NYT Games like The Mini and Strands. If you’re finding today’s puzzle tough, refer to our Connections tips and tricks guide for effective strategies, or look at the hints for today’s puzzle below. If you still can’t solve it, we will provide the answers at the conclusion of the guide.

In Connections, a grid with 16 words is presented — your task is to sort these words into four groups of four by recognizing the connections that unify them. These groups might include ideas such as video game franchise titles, sequels of book series, shades of red, or names of fast-food chains, among others.
Typically, some words may appear to fit several categories, but there is only one definitive correct solution. You can shuffle the grid of words and rearrange them to better identify possible connections.
Each group is color-coded: yellow is the easiest to decipher, followed by green, blue, and purple.
Select four words and click Submit. If you’re right, those four words will be eliminated from the grid, and the connecting theme will be revealed. A wrong guess counts as a mistake, and you have only four mistakes allowed before the game concludes.

Who edits the NYT Connections game?
Wyna Liu, who has been involved in editing puzzles at The New York Times since 2020, oversees Connections daily. Liu explained her process in June 2024, saying, “A few months ago, I received a new assignment: to create the game boards for Connections, a category matching game that had just been approved and needed an editor. Most of my experience has been with crosswords, so I was excited to try something new. I enjoyed learning how puzzle editing works once a game is greenlit and understanding how our team fits into a broader ecosystem.”
On the one-year anniversary of Connections launching earlier this year, Liu shared a TikTok recounting her favorite puzzles so far:
