For several weeks, there has been considerable excitement surrounding the Nothing (3a) series, which consists of two phones set to be officially revealed on Tuesday, March 4. One of the company's teasers has highlighted a new button, the purpose of which has remained unclear until now.
We have found out that this new button will activate an AI assistant named Essential Space, which Nothing had previously hinted at. This button, likely referred to as the “Essential Key,” is designed to streamline user tasks. It will enable them to take notes, record voice memos, and capture photos utilizing AI technology. The AI will emphasize “Smart Collection,” which will automatically sort and categorize images, audio, and text.
However, we will need to wait for a live demonstration of the Nothing (3a) and Nothing (3a) Pro to observe this feature in operation.

In addition to the new Essential Key, both upcoming Nothing phones are anticipated to feature a triple-camera system, with the Pro model offering slightly improved optical zoom and a higher-resolution front-facing camera. The Nothing (3a) Pro should include a camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera with an expanded view, a 50MP periscope lens, and a 32MP front camera. This new arrangement enables 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and 60x ultra-digital zoom. The camera system will also provide enhancements for macro photography and new AI clarity algorithms supported by Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 3.0.
Once again, the new devices will showcase Nothing’s signature transparent back and Glyph interface. Internally, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset is expected, which is suitable for mid-range devices. The phones will come pre-installed with Android 15.
Nothing is known for teasing new features prior to a product launch. With this in mind, I suggest checking the company's X feed ahead of Tuesday’s significant announcement, as more leaks could surface.

Nothing just released a mysterious teaser that involves Pokémon.
Nothing, the brand behind the Nothing Phone series, is hinting at a new product, but the exact details are unclear. The teaser simply features a Pokémon: Arcanine, the evolved form of Growlithe, which is number 59 in the original 150. The company shared the image without additional context, which is typical for them.
Nothing has a history of cryptic teaser messages. Previously, they teased the Nothing Phone 2a Plus with an abstract photo and shared another enigmatic post for the Nothing Phone 2. The inclusion of a Pokémon is a strange choice, but it could imply various meanings. Possible interpretations include a release date that ends in nine (Arca-nine) or something related to its Pokedex entry number of 59.

There’s a notable issue with Nothing Phones, and it's not a pleasant one.
I admire Nothing. It’s the first brand that truly redefined what it means to be bold in hardware design, UX aesthetics, and marketing over the past few years. Their bright trajectory has continued well into 2024. The London-based startup recently surprised everyone by rolling out the Android 15 update ahead of larger competitors like Samsung.
This company knows how to make an impactful statement. The Nothing Phone 2a, in particular, stands out as my favorite. Digital Trends’ review aptly described it as “a brilliant buy.” The recent glow-in-the-dark community edition trim was indeed eye-catching.

Nothing’s Android 15 update is now being rolled out with these new features.
After several weeks of beta testing, Nothing is now part of the Android 15 rollout. In a community update today, the company announced the wide release of Nothing OS 3.0 based on Android 15 for its relatively small smartphone lineup.
The first devices to receive the update are the Nothing Phone 2 and Nothing Phone 2a, both of which are expected to get the over-the-air (OTA) update in a phased manner throughout December. Next up are the Nothing Phone 1, Nothing Phone 2a Plus, and CMF Phone 1, which are set to receive the OS upgrade early next year.
