Is young Tony Soprano set to return to television?
Michael Gandolfini, the son of the late James Gandolfini, was recently questioned about reprising the role of Tony Soprano in a prequel series for The Sopranos. “Look, it’s David’s universe,” Gandolfini told Entertainment Tonight. “Ultimately, it’s up to David [Chase]. I know he’s working on some projects that aren't related to The Sopranos, which is exciting.”
While Gandolfini would “love” the opportunity to collaborate with Sopranos creator David Chase again, he believes that Tony is unlikely to make a comeback on television. “I think Tony’s probably at rest for good now, but who knows, who knows,” Gandolfini remarked. “But my guess is that character’s story has closed.”
Gandolfini previously portrayed the character his father made famous in The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel film directed by Alan Taylor that centered on mobster Dickie Moltisanti, the father of Christopher Moltisanti, set in Newark during the 1960s and 1970s. In the film, Gandolfini played the teenage version of Tony Soprano, who is Dickie’s nephew. The Many Saints of Newark also featured actors such as Alessandro Nivola as Dickie, Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, Ray Liotta, and Vera Farmiga.
James Gandolfini transformed television with his performance as Tony Soprano on HBO’s The Sopranos, a character often regarded as one of the greatest in TV history. His role earned him numerous accolades, including three Emmys, five SAG Awards, and one Golden Globe.
Michael Gandolfini is set to appear in Daredevil: Born Again, which premieres on March 4 on Disney+. He is reportedly playing Daniel Blake, a protégé of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.

Henry Cavill’s James Bond audition leaks online. Should Superman have taken on 007's role?
Henry Cavill almost donned a tuxedo instead of a superhero cape. In 2005, Cavill auditioned for the role of James Bond in Casino Royale. Director Martin Campbell noted that Cavill and Daniel Craig were the final contenders to succeed Pierce Brosnan as 007. Fans have often speculated about what Cavill's version of Bond would have been like, and now, thanks to a leaked video, they're getting a glimpse.
Cavill's Bond audition has surfaced online, shared on Ron South's YouTube channel, showing a young Cavill reading lines from a scene in the 1995 film GoldenEye. At the time of the audition, Cavill was just 22 and sported long black hair. The video's description claims it was sourced from a “VHS tape found in a recycling bin at a movie studio.”
The narrative goes that Craig won the role, portraying the legendary spy in five films. Producers chose to cast an older version of Bond—Craig was 37 in 2005—rather than a spy in his early twenties. Despite not landing the role, Cavill impressed Campbell, who commended his “tremendous” audition.
