      Samsung’s long-awaited tri-fold phone is in development, but its release date remains uncertain. A report from Korean news outlet ETNews suggested it might launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip this summer, but industry insider Max Jambor claims it will be released "at a later point in time." Despite ETNews citing "multiple industry sources," Jambor's position contrasts with those of other insiders, including Sanju Choudhary. Jambor shared his thoughts on social media, indicating that while a teaser may be presented, a full unveiling is unlikely. Additionally, Ross Young indicated a similar launch window for 2026 back in December.

      At this juncture, it’s unclear which report is accurate. However, ETNews includes a possible clue; an unnamed industry source mentioned, "As this is a form factor being introduced for the first time, only a limited quantity will be produced in select countries." Thus, Samsung might introduce the multi-fold device later this year, but it could be limited to a select audience, similar to a beta test aimed at troubleshooting issues before a broader release.

      Samsung’s tri-fold phone will not debut alongside the Galaxy Fold 7 and Flip 7 but will be unveiled at a later time. This could be a prudent choice, given Samsung's less-than-stellar history with foldable devices; past models like the Galaxy Z Flip 4 have been criticized for their fragility due to hinge mechanisms and high repair costs. Although improvements have been made, folding mechanisms still present vulnerabilities that traditional phones do not.

      Samsung teased the multi-fold device during the Galaxy S25 launch event, confirming its existence. The device, occasionally referred to as the Galaxy G Fold, is poised to be the primary competitor to the Huawei Mate XT, currently the only other multi-fold phone available.

      Samsung usually launches new Z Fold and Z Flip models around July. If the G Fold does not appear at that time, Jambor’s assessment is likely correct, and fans may have to wait until the January Unpacked event for its introduction. While this extended wait may be inconvenient, it could also provide Samsung with the necessary time to ensure the device's durability for frequent use. The price of the Samsung G Fold remains unknown but is expected to exceed $2,000, potentially reaching closer to $3,000, making its durability and longevity crucial factors.

      Samsung’s upcoming budget smartphone will have a quicker charging capability than the Galaxy S25. Budget phones typically require less charging power than higher-end models, resulting in longer charging times. However, the FCC has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy A56 will support faster 45-watt charging, which could allow it to charge more rapidly than the Galaxy S25. A leaked document shared by GSMArena indicates that the Galaxy A56 will be able to charge at 10 volts and 4.5 amps, amounting to 45W.

      In another note, I've made a decision regarding my next Samsung phone choice, which won’t be the Galaxy S25 Ultra. After testing the new Galaxy S25 smartphones during two events, I've settled on the Galaxy S25 Plus, even though I've used the Galaxy S24 Ultra for the past year. This time, I prefer the ergonomic feel over the top camera specifications. Samsung has adjusted the S25 Ultra's design in a way that doesn't entirely appeal to me, while the S25 and S25 Plus have a design direction I find more favorable.
