NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Tuesday, February 25

Connections is regarded as one of the top puzzle games offered by the New York Times. The objective of the game is to classify a set of 16 words into four hidden groups by determining their relationships. Every night at midnight, the puzzle refreshes, presenting varying levels of difficulty with each new challenge. Similar to Wordle, players can track their winning streak and compare scores with friends.

Some puzzles are more challenging than others, akin to other popular NYT Games such as The Mini and Strands. If you're facing difficulties with today's puzzle, you can refer to our guide for helpful strategies or find hints for today's Connections puzzle below. And if you're still stuck, we’ll provide today's answers at the end.

      **How to play Connections**

Connections is a daily game that involves identifying links between words. Players must form four groups of four words, ensuring they make no more than three mistakes.

You can enjoy Connections on the New York Times website or through the NYT Games app available for iOS and Android. In the game, a grid is presented with 16 words, and your task is to arrange these words into four groups of four by identifying their connections. These groups can consist of themes such as video game titles, book series sequels, shades of red, and chain restaurant names.

While there may be words that appear to fit multiple themes, only one solution is absolutely correct. You have the option to shuffle the words in the grid, which can help to clarify potential connections. Each group is color-coded, with yellow being the simplest to solve, followed by green, blue, and purple.

Select four words and press Submit. If you’re correct, those four words will disappear from the grid and the connecting theme will be revealed. A wrong guess will count as a mistake, and you are allowed only three errors before the game concludes.

Who is in charge of editing the NYT Connections game?

Wyna Liu, who has been an editor for puzzles at The New York Times since 2020, edits Connections each day.

“A few months ago, I received a new assignment: Create the game boards for Connections, a category matching game that had just been approved and was looking for an editor,” Liu explained in an article detailing her process in June 2024. “Most of my puzzle experience has been with crosswords, and I was eager to explore something different. I've enjoyed understanding how puzzle editing works once a game is greenlit, and seeing how our team contributes to a broader ecosystem.”

On the one-year anniversary of Connections' launch earlier this year, Liu shared this TikTok showcasing her favorite puzzles to date:
