Introducing Dragonwing, Qualcomm's major initiative in the fields of robotics, drones, and artificial intelligence.

Qualcomm, recognized primarily for its Snapdragon series of processors that power many beloved smartphones, has launched a new brand named Dragonwing. However, before you get too enthusiastic, it's important to note that this name will not appear on chips found in consumer mobile devices or laptops. Qualcomm describes Dragonwing as a “brand portfolio” and a “significant step in our journey to help businesses and industries reach new levels of performance.”

Dragonwing is targeted towards businesses, and at this point, Qualcomm is merely announcing the brand and its objectives rather than detailing specific products. When product announcements do come, they will be aimed at networking systems, cellular infrastructure hardware, and embedded IoT systems, designed for applications in robots, drones, cameras, and smart handheld devices.

Moreover, Dragonwing will extend beyond hardware, as Qualcomm has indicated it will also encompass custom software and, notably, AI. Through this new portfolio, Qualcomm anticipates collaborating with sectors such as telecommunications, manufacturing, supply chains, retail, and energy. Along with the brand, a new logo has been unveiled, which closely resembles Qualcomm’s Snapdragon logo but features a purple hue.

The Dragonwing brand will take a prominent role for Qualcomm at Mobile World Congress 2025, scheduled for March 3 to March 6 in Barcelona, Spain. The company is eager to engage businesses interested in learning more about what the new portfolio has to offer. It will also be revealing whether new Snapdragon products intended for consumer technology will be showcased at the event. Although you won't find the Dragonwing brand on retail shelves or prominently featured during smartphone unveilings, it signifies a significant new direction for Qualcomm, and it's beneficial for you to grasp what this brand entails as you are likely to hear more about it in the upcoming weeks.
