Wrestling has seen some remarkable years recently. WWE has reached new heights by streaming Monday Night Raw on Netflix, while AEW has established itself as a legitimate runner-up promotion attracting top talent. On the cinematic front, The Iron Claw garnered critical acclaim and award buzz after its December 2023 release. In March, audiences will discover the true story of one of women’s wrestling pioneers, Mildred Burke, in Queen of the Ring.

In the 1930s, women’s professional wrestling was illegal in the U.S. Nonetheless, Mildred Burke (Emily Bett Rickards), a single mother, defied the odds and started training to become a wrestler. She outshone her female peers and even surpassed many of the men. Burke eventually became the first female athlete to earn over a million dollars, but her tumultuous relationship with her husband and promoter, Billy Wolfe (Josh Lucas), threatened her success.

ASH - Official Trailer | HD | RLJE Films

“Who am I?” queries Eiza González’s character in the trailer for Ash, a forthcoming sci-fi horror from director Flying Lotus. Riya (González) wakes up with no memory of what transpired on the planet Ash. Alone and confused, she grapples with her surroundings, eventually uncovering the gruesome scene of her crew’s slaughter inside the space station.

Upon the arrival of Brion (Aaron Paul), Riya instinctively raises a knife in defense. To her astonishment, Brion reveals that Riya had sent a distress signal. As they seek answers together, Riya and Brion must navigate their trust in each other. Ash’s intense atmosphere and extraterrestrial storyline evoke vibes reminiscent of Alien and The Thing. If Ash is even half as captivating as those classics, audiences are in for a delight.

      **Locked** (March 21 in theaters)

      LOCKED Trailer (2025) Bill Skarsgård

Picture hell inside a luxury car. That’s the intriguing premise of Locked, a new twisted thriller produced by Sam Raimi. This film serves as the English-language remake of the 2019 Argentinian film 4×4. Bill Skarsgård stars as Eddie Barrish, a petty thief on the hunt for a quick score. Initially, Eddie tries to break into cars left unlocked in an alley.

His luck changes when he stumbles upon an unlocked, stylish SUV in a parking lot. Once Eddie steps inside, the doors lock, and chaos ensues. The vehicle's owner (Anthony Hopkins) remotely controls its features and communicates through the audio system. The car is both bulletproof and soundproof. The only escape hinges on the owner unlocking the doors, which seems unlikely anytime soon. Welcome to your prison, Eddie. It’s going to be a tough ride.
