CES 2023: Wordle will take to the skies thanks to Delta Air Lines

The New York Times made an appearance at CES 2023 alongside Delta to announce that its game lineup will be part of the upcoming Delta Exclusives Hub. Soon, Delta Air Lines passengers will have the opportunity to play Wordle, Spelling Bee, and more during flights via the airline's complimentary Wi-Fi.

Currently, Delta flight passengers only have free access to iMessage, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp. However, from February 1 onward, Delta Air Lines plans to provide free Wi-Fi on its flights for Delta SkyMiles members, with a variety of content available through a new landing page called the Delta Exclusives Hub.

When the Delta Exclusives Hub launches in spring 2023, it will allow passengers access to games like Wordle, Spelling Bee, and The Crossword on domestic U.S. flights at no cost, regardless of whether they are New York Times subscribers.

This announcement comes nearly a year after The New York Times acquired Wordle, which was a significant social media sensation at the time. While its popularity has waned, Wordle continues to engage a substantial number of players and remains a key component of The New York Times Games. Notably, The New York Times appears eager to broaden the venues where people can enjoy Wordle, having integrated it into their Crossword app in December 2022.

By featuring Wordle and its other games within the Delta Exclusives Hub, The New York Times Games will reach an even larger audience while ensuring players always have the opportunity to try that day's Wordle, even while traveling.
