Chinese exhibitors represented the largest international group at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), a key technology trade event held in Las Vegas from January 7 to 10. As indicated in the exhibitor list, over 1,300 Chinese companies showcased their newest products and technologies at this year's CES. These companies constituted more than a quarter of the 4,500 registered exhibitors during the four-day event, which saw approximately 150,000 attendees. The theme for this year's CES, "Dive In," aimed at bringing together global innovators, decision-makers, and visionaries to investigate transformative technologies that will influence future lifestyles, as stated by the organizers.
Why this is significant: The substantial participation of Chinese firms highlighted their increasing influence in the technology sector, while the "Dive In" theme encouraged collaboration to drive solutions and advancements.
Details: Major Chinese exhibitors with large spaces included Lenovo, TCL, Hisense, and BOE. Notable exhibits from these manufacturers this year included: Lenovo’s introduction of the world’s first rollable-screen AI PC, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, which features a flexible display that expands from 14 to 16.7 inches. It is set to launch in June 2025, starting at $3,499. The company also presented a newly designed Legion Pro 7i gaming laptop, equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 275HX processor and customizable with the next-generation NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU based on Blackwell architecture. This gaming laptop will begin at $2,399 and is expected to be available in March.
TCL’s booth, spanning 2,342 square meters, was the largest among Chinese brands at CES this year. The highlight was the world’s largest 115-inch QD (quantum dot) Mini LED TV, the QM891G, which utilizes 11th-generation display panel technology. It has over 20,000 backlight zones, a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, and advanced QLED color technology. TCL also announced that its overseas flagship TV series would incorporate Google’s Gemini AI model, making them the first TVs in the world to have Gemini AI capabilities upon the integration's completion later this year.
Hisense attracted attention with its unveiling of the world’s first 116-inch RGB-Mini LED TV, utilizing RGB three-dimensional color control LCD display technology. Hisense claims that this three-dimensional display technology exceeds quantum dot technology in aspects such as color purity, gamut area, color volume, and color precision. The new TV features Hisense’s independently developed next-generation Xinxin AI image processing chip and is slated for mass production in March.
In collaboration with Qualcomm, BOE showcased the industry’s first 65-inch 4K AI Media Center, powered by BOE’s System on Module (SoM) core board with the Qualcomm QCS8550 chipset. It incorporates computer vision and generative AI, facilitating smart experiences, including remote "watch together," real-time translation, travel planning, and smart home management.
