Pocket enables nearly anyone to transform a game concept into a playable experience and share it with friends.

Currently, both Android and iOS stores are inundated with vibe-coded games and applications, causing significant frustration for users trying to navigate through them. Meta is taking a unique approach with Pocket, its experimental app designed to convert simple ideas into small, sharable playable experiences akin to social media posts.

Pocket is not entirely novel; we initially discussed it when Meta began testing it discreetly in Brazil back in July. It is now expanding its availability across the U.S., allowing a larger audience to engage with it.

Games are treated more like social posts within Pocket.

Meta refers to the creations in Pocket as "gizmos." Users can articulate an idea in natural language, allow AI to generate a playable version, and then make adjustments before sharing it. These experiences are typically smaller in scale compared to traditional mobile games. A gizmo can interact with taps, swipes, dragging, and device movement, and some can incorporate music, sound effects, images, the camera, or microphone.

This smaller scope is what makes Pocket appealing. A person without programming experience can convert an inside joke, quiz, peculiar game idea, or simple challenge into a playable format without needing to learn Unity, Unreal Engine, or any coding languages.

Users can discover gizmos within Pocket, share them, or remix them with the creator’s permission. Shared links can also be accessed without the Pocket app installed, making it significantly easier to share among friends compared to traditional mobile games.

This might provide a better environment for vibe coding.

Pocket builds on Meta’s acquisition of the Gizmo team, which focused on AI-generated interactive experiences. As reported by Business Insider, Pocket operates on Meta’s Muse Spark framework and currently does not have direct messaging features. Meta has also stated that there are no immediate plans to integrate Pocket with Instagram or any of its other applications, keeping it as a distinct experiment for now.

Vibe coding has simplified the process for almost anyone to turn a small idea into an app or game, resulting in an increasingly crowded app store landscape. Pocket offers a more natural space for these smaller experiments. Rather than dealing with coding, app-store submissions, or developing a full mobile game, casual users can utilize Meta’s AI-enhanced platform to transform a straightforward idea into something playable, experiment with it, and share it with friends—all without needing each creation to become another standalone download.
