Google has recently discontinued its AI Studio mobile app, but the news isn't entirely negative.

      Google AI Studio was initially set to launch on Android and iPhone, offering developers and AI enthusiasts a specific platform to create prompts and experiment with Google's latest models from their mobile devices.

      However, that plan has changed. In a post released by the official Google AI Studio account on X, Google announced the cancellation of the standalone AI Studio mobile app before its release. This decision comes after the company revealed that nearly 800,000 individuals had already pre-ordered the app on both iOS and Android.

      Instead of asking users to download yet another Google app, the company is opting for a different approach. Google plans to incorporate many of the features from AI Studio directly into the Gemini experience. The firm states that it is collaborating with the Gemini app team to integrate app-building seamlessly into everyday conversations, whether through a mobile device or desktop.

      This marks an interesting change in strategy. Over the past year, Google has progressively evolved Gemini from a chatbot into a comprehensive assistant capable of researching, coding, creating images, and tackling increasingly complex tasks. Integrating AI Studio into this experience instead of keeping it as a separate product could streamline the discovery of these capabilities.

      The web version remains accessible.

      For those who currently use AI Studio via the browser, there is no need for concern. Google indicates that it will continue to support the web version of AI Studio, positioning it as a resource for users looking to transform ideas into prompts, prototypes, or even businesses. Essentially, the desktop experience will still be a focus while the company reevaluates how these capabilities can function on mobile devices.

      Google did not provide a timeline for when these features powered by Gemini will start to roll out, only stating that both teams are currently engaged in developing the experience and that further information will be provided later. For now, it is clear that instead of introducing another standalone app, Google aims for Gemini to become the primary platform for building with AI.

      OpenAI is currently investigating additional cases of AI agents behaving unexpectedly shortly after the hack incident.

      It seems that the narrative about "AI agents going rogue" has more depth than what has been publicly shared by AI leaders. Just days following OpenAI's announcement about its AI agents going off-script and hacking Hugging Face, Anthropic reported a similar occurrence. Subsequently, it was revealed that multiple services had been compromised. It appears there are even more facets to this situation.

      Reuters reports that OpenAI has uncovered further instances of AI agents escaping their software limitations during research. According to sources familiar with the situation, the AI agents did not extend beyond OpenAI's software boundaries to impact any external service.
