Framework is reducing the specifications of some Laptop 13 Pro orders due to a significant increase in RAM costs.

      Some purchasers of the Laptop 13 Pro may receive less memory than they initially chose.

      Framework previously shared promising news when it discovered a more affordable and improved SSD for the Laptop 13 Pro. However, the tides have now turned as the skyrocketing costs of LPCAMM2 are compelling the company to alter certain existing preorder configurations.

      Framework has noted that prices from its memory supplier have surged more than twofold compared to prior inventory, significantly overshadowing the modest double-digit increase initially anticipated. The company possesses sufficient modules to fulfill overall existing orders, yet lacks the proper distribution of 64GB, 32GB, and 16GB capacities.

      Certain preorders are receiving reduced memory.

      Framework has adequate 64GB modules for Laptop 13 Pro orders through Batch 4 and for Mainboard orders through Batch 7. Subsequent orders set with 64GB will be adjusted to 32GB and will be billed at the original 32GB price.

      The same situation applies to the 32GB DIY Edition and Mainboard orders beyond those batches, which will be decreased to 16GB at the original 16GB pricing. Prebuilt Core X7 Ultra orders with 32GB will remain unchanged, as Framework does not currently have a 16GB configuration available.

      New orders will see an increase in cost. Framework has raised LPCAMM2 prices, and adjustments are also being made to system and Mainboard prices to account for higher processor, Windows licensing, memory, storage, and other silicon expenses.

      Framework had previously cautioned that price hikes were on the horizon.

      This is not the first instance of price increases for buyers. In May, Framework alerted customers that its stock of less expensive SSD inventory from 2025 was nearly depleted, leading to a rise in storage prices as new, pricier stock became available. At that time, DDR5 pricing was relatively stable, although the 8GB module still experienced an increase after Framework sold through its more affordable inventory.

      Nonetheless, not every component is becoming more expensive. Framework has lowered prices on 48GB DDR5 modules, SN850X 8TB SSDs, and SN7100 1TB drives, while raising prices on 16GB DDR5, SN850X 1TB, and SN7100 4TB options. Existing preorders retain the lower pricing even as costs increase and automatically benefit from reductions when prices fall.

      LG agrees to eliminate the McAfee pop-up on Windows PCs following intervention from Microsoft.

      It's a temporary solution rather than a complete fix, as the channels that allowed LG to install the pop-up remain open.

      Connecting an LG monitor to a Windows PC might trigger more than just a driver installation.
