Acer's latest Android smartphone features a rear display that allows you to capture better selfies.
A small rear display takes center stage, but Acer's latest smartphone offers more than it appears.
After a short break, Acer has returned quietly, introducing the Acer Sospiro A15 without much fanfare. Acer Mobile LATAM has discreetly listed this phone featuring a dual-display design, Android 16, and a 64MP rear camera. Here’s what you need to know about the device.
The secondary screen on the back does the heavy lifting.
The standout feature is the 1.88-inch TFT display located on the back of the smartphone. It allows users to check notifications and manage music without needing to unlock the phone, which is quite convenient. However, its most advantageous use is as a viewfinder for selfies.
Rather than using the 16MP front camera, users can turn the device around, frame their shot with the rear display, and capture photos with the 64MP main camera. This clever strategy delivers sharper selfies without requiring Acer to upgrade to a higher-quality front sensor.
That being said, the 16MP selfie camera is still quite capable. It includes its own flash, enhancing the quality of selfies and video calls even in low light conditions. The main display boasts a 6.67-inch HD+ IPS panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a water-drop notch.
What about the overall quality of the phone?
While the secondary screen is a notable selling point, performance expectations should be realistic. The Sospiro A15 is powered by the budget-friendly Unisoc T615 chip, which won't offer exceptional performance, and it lacks 5G connectivity.
Fortunately, the phone comes equipped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is a pleasant surprise given the rising costs of RAM and storage due to AI developments. Another beneficial feature is the microSD slot allowing storage expansion up to 1TB, which is always a plus.
The phone comes with Android 16 right out of the box and is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. It also includes NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, an IP64 rating, and both face unlock and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Acer has confirmed that the phone will be available in select Latin American markets. However, the company has not yet released pricing or a launch date, so we will need to wait to see if this model is worth the investment.

OnePlus is reportedly ceasing its operations in the US soon.
The inventory is running low, and once it’s depleted, OnePlus stock will not be replenished.
There have been numerous reports over recent months suggesting OnePlus is set to end its US operations and exit the European market. The company has consistently denied these claims, asserting that rumors of retail shutdowns and management changes are simply part of routine operations and not indicative of planned closures in these key markets. However, WinFuture now reports that an official announcement regarding their exit from both the European and US markets is expected this week.
“Our well-placed sources indicate that OnePlus and its parent company, Oppo, plan to announce significant changes to their strategy this week. What may seem like mere marketing rhetoric is, in fact, a withdrawal from vital markets and the end of OnePlus as we know it,” claims the outlet. The report further notes that the remaining inventory of OnePlus devices is being sold, and once it is gone, it will not be restocked. Most of the stock in OnePlus's European stores has nearly been cleared out.
