Windows 11 is reintroducing Copilot for Microsoft 365 Business accounts, except for users in Europe.

Windows 11 is reintroducing Copilot for Microsoft 365 Business accounts, except for users in Europe.

The update method for Office is intentional. It's purposely more difficult to block compared to the regular installation method via the Microsoft Store.

In April 2026, Microsoft acknowledged user dissatisfaction and allowed the removal of Copilot from Windows 11. This addition had sparked significant controversy among users, prompting the company to take such a notable action.

However, just two months later, it's being reinstalled. The only alteration is the approach used. Unfortunately, the new method is tougher to prevent. On the upside, this does not impact all Windows 11 users; in fact, it primarily excludes most.

So what is Microsoft's current strategy?

Instead of utilizing the auto-install feature of the Microsoft Store—which can be stopped by enterprise admins and users—Microsoft is now using the Office suite's update process to install Copilot.

This latest deployment focuses on systems with commercial Microsoft 365 desktop applications. It’s set to occur between mid-June and mid-July, providing about a 30-day timeframe for it to be installed on your device before you may notice its presence.

If an organization wishes to block it, an administrator can disable Copilot in advance through the Admin Center. However, this becomes intentionally frustrating.

      Why is Europe not affected?

The settings to remove Copilot are dispersed throughout the Admin Center and the specific settings of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Microsoft characterizes this as a method to "simplify" access to Copilot.

Currently, users in the EU are exempt, likely due to competition regulations. Similar legal scrutiny has previously restricted Microsoft's ability to bundle products in European markets. It’s important to mention that regular Windows 11 Home users are not impacted by this change either.

An internal document that was previously leaked indicated that Microsoft aims for users not just to adopt its AI products, but to become dependent on them. The mandatory installation method and the intentional difficulty in removing it become clearer in this context.

Akko Dash V9 Ultra review: This ultra-light gaming mouse proved beneficial for my work too.

Akko's surprisingly lightweight mouse is designed for eSports, focused on speed.

I have smaller-than-average hands, and size is my main consideration when selecting a mouse. Given my petite wrists, weight is crucial as well. I’ve used enough featherweight gaming mice to develop a tendency to flinch. Lightweight mice usually come with compromises. When I try one, I often brace for the creaking, rattling, and flimsy plastic that feels like it might break if I click too hard in a critical game moment.

Asus ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI router review: A remarkable, next-gen upgrade.

This model captivates with its bold design and offers a wealth of future-proof features. Are you prepared to invest $899?

Asus has a notorious reputation for excess. From gaming laptops featuring dual screens to smartphones boasting more RAM than a typical computer, the brand occasionally likes to show off. However, doing this with a router—an item that merely sits on a shelf and flashes lights—seems excessive. Nevertheless, the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI is a unique networking device that truly deserves attention like a computer.

NotebookLM is among Google’s finest products, and it has just received an exciting update.

Now, students can rewrite questions, modify answers, add new cards, and share decks based on their own material.

NotebookLM flashcards are undergoing a helpful upgrade. Google’s note-taking tool now allows users to edit created questions, adjust answers, add new cards, and share completed decks with others. Flashcards often require refinement after the initial creation. A generated card may be overly broad, omit a crucial term, or phrase an answer in a way that doesn't align with how a class expects students to respond.

In April, Microsoft made Copilot optional. However, in June, it is re-installing it automatically via Office updates, with EU users being the only ones exempt from this.
