Foldable smartphones have typically excelled in multitasking but are not widely recognized for their photography capabilities. Recent releases from Chinese manufacturers, however, have proven to be exceptions, and now Vivo appears to be redefining the norm once more. Ahead of its forthcoming launch in China later this month, Vivo has revealed several significant details regarding the camera and display of the Vivo X Fold 6.
The standout feature is its compatibility with the ZEISS G2 telephoto converter, an accessory that enables the foldable device to capture images at a 200mm equivalent focal length.
What makes this camera system exceptional
Vivo
Vivo executive Han Boxiao has confirmed on Weibo that the X Fold 6 will boast a 200MP primary camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor. This upgrade makes the main camera larger than the previous Vivo X Fold 5's, although it still falls short of the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro in size. Additionally, it will incorporate a ZEISS APO Super Telephoto lens utilizing Sony’s LYT-602 sensor. The cameras will benefit from Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip for enhanced image processing and video capture.
Vivo has been actively advancing mobile photography in recent years, particularly with its X-series flagship devices, and the X Fold 6 continues this emphasis on high-quality mobile photography. Telephoto converter lenses have become prevalent among Chinese ultra-premium flagships, such as the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra, and the X Fold 6 appears to be the next in line. The promotional material hints at a 200mm ZEISS teleconverter kit, promising a more enjoyable zoom photography experience.
Making Samsung and Apple appear conservative
Vivo
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series has made strides in camera technology, notably with the Fold7 featuring a 200MP main sensor. Still, Samsung's current foldable relies on small telephoto sensors. In contrast, Apple has yet to introduce a foldable iPhone. Current speculation suggests that its first foldable may only feature wide and ultrawide rear cameras, lacking a dedicated telephoto lens. Therefore, Vivo maintains a competitive advantage in the camera department.
The X Fold 6 is also set to include an 8.02-inch inner display utilizing Samsung’s M14 luminous material, achieving an impressive peak brightness of 5,000 nits outdoors while being able to reduce brightness to 1 nit for nighttime use. Vivo has teased a more rounded design, a 2.5D vertical metal frame, and a new Blue Hole color option. Previous confirmations also indicate a Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chip and desktop mode support, while a 7,000mAh battery remains in speculation. Sadly, global availability is still uncertain, but a Chinese launch seems imminent.

Nimble’s SharePower breaks apart, showcasing an innovative power bank concept
Portable chargers tend to be mundane — this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Most power banks are designed to be unremarkable; they rest in a backpack, prevent your phone from dying, and return to a drawer once they're done. Each year, brands attempt to enhance them with bigger batteries, faster charging, or stylish designs, yet the fundamental concept rarely alters.
That’s why Nimble’s new SharePower caught my eye. It's possibly the most exciting power bank idea I've encountered in years— not due to its faster charging capabilities, but because it addresses a surprisingly human need. SharePower is a 10,000mAh portable charger comprising two magnetically connected 5,000mAh batteries. When attached, they function as a typical power bank; when separated, each half serves as an individual portable charger, allowing you to literally share battery power with someone else.
UK plans major social media ban for those under 16 in significant online safety initiative
The United Kingdom is preparing to implement one of the strictest restrictions on children's access to social media globally after Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced intentions to prohibit users under the age of 16 from major social networking sites.
If enacted, this proposal would impact some of the largest online platforms worldwide, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, and X. Although the first phase of the regulations is not expected to be implemented until spring 2027, the announcement indicates a notable shift in how governments are addressing online safety issues for young people.
