      The two companies unveiled an enhanced partnership focusing on MediaTek's new generative AI e-reader chips, the MT8115 and MT8126. These chips support both Linux and Android and include a dedicated NPU that offers up to 7.4 TOPS of AI computing power.

      In simpler terms, this means features like multi-speaker voice recognition, meeting transcription, and real-time translation in over 20 languages, all processed directly on the device.

      The display upgrades are equally thrilling. The new chips utilize a 7-level high-voltage oxide TFT driving technology, which accelerates the movement of ePaper particles on screen.       The chipsets support screens up to 13.3 inches at 300 PPI, providing sharp text presentation. For color, they work with E Ink’s Gallery and Kaleido technologies to enhance color depth and expand the color range.

      Illustrated books and educational materials will benefit significantly from these changes, marking a meaningful improvement compared to existing color e-readers. So far, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft has showcased the best colors in my view. I'm eager to see how this new technology will enhance color e-ink displays.

      MediaTek’s new chips are anticipated to debut in next-generation tablets from Linfiny, a subsidiary of E Ink. Both companies plan to showcase this technology at Computex 2026 in Taipei later this year, providing clearer insights into real-world performance shortly.
