YouTube Music playlists are receiving new sorting features, and it's well overdue.

      The rollout is gradual, so not everyone will have immediate access to the new features.

      If you've ever gone through a YouTube Music playlist wishing for an alphabetical sort option, there’s some good news! YouTube Music is introducing new sorting options for playlists, which only took about ten years to arrive.

      As noted by PiunikaWeb, users are now able to choose from three new sorting options: Title, Artist, and Album, in addition to the four current options: Manual, Top Voted, Newest First, and Oldest First.

      A Reddit user with YouTube Music version 9.20.52 on Android was the first to identify the new options. However, this appears to be a server-side rollout, meaning it’s not dependent on having a specific app version.

      You might be using the same version and still not see the new sorting options yet. If that’s the case, you’re not alone. A broader rollout is anticipated in the coming weeks.

      It’s hard to believe it took this long for such a basic feature to be introduced.

      While this may seem like a minor update, YouTube Music users have been requesting this feature for years. Users of Spotify and Apple Music have had alphabetical sorting for over a decade, making YouTube Music's lack of this feature puzzling.

      The feedback on the new options has generally been positive, though many users noted that this should have been included from the beginning. Regardless, if you have an extensive playlist that has been frustrating you, be sure to check for app updates.

However, a developer known as Kyujin-cho has just released an open-source Android app called Bada on GitHub that appears to resolve this problem. It successfully implements Google's Quick Share protocol from the ground up, bypassing the absence of Google Play Services.
