A recent report from South Korea's ETNews suggests that Samsung plans to introduce a new model positioned between the standard and Ultra variants, tentatively named the Galaxy S27 Pro.
Where does the Galaxy S27 Pro fit in Samsung's flagship lineup?
Samsung is gearing up for the Galaxy S27 series to be a four-model offering, shifting away from the traditional standard, Plus, and Ultra setup that has been in place since the Galaxy S20. The only deviation was the Galaxy S25 series, which included the experimental Galaxy S25 Edge. Initial rumors pointed to the Galaxy S26 family launching with a new Pro variant, but that didn't materialize. However, new reports indicate that the forthcoming Galaxy S series will indeed feature this new model.
It is said to have a 6.47-inch OLED display, a size that has not been utilized in the Galaxy S series before. This would make it taller than the standard base model while remaining smaller than the Galaxy S26+. In this regard, the Galaxy S27 Pro aligns with the iPhone Pro concept, where one premium model is smaller than the highest-end variant.
Ultra specifications without the S Pen?
According to the report, the new Pro model is anticipated to share most specifications with the Ultra version while omitting support for pen input. Therefore, a premium Snapdragon chip and improved camera technology can be expected. However, it appears the hallmark S Pen functionality found in the Galaxy S Ultra series will not be included. This would provide consumers with additional size and feature options to select from. It is essential to note that this information is derived from an early leak, and Samsung has yet to confirm details regarding the Galaxy S27 lineup. Nonetheless, the introduction of the Galaxy S27 Pro could enhance the sense of significance in next year's annual refreshes.
