Framework is increasing the prices of RAM and storage modules once more.
Framework is once again increasing prices, with storage being the hardest hit.
If you've been considering an upgrade for your Framework laptop, the opportunity for more affordable storage is coming to an end. The company released its latest monthly price update on May 12th, and while RAM prices remain relatively stable, the cost of SSDs is on the rise.
What’s driving the change in storage prices?
Framework indicated that it had been offering SSD modules at prices significantly below market value due to a surplus of cheaper inventory acquired back in 2025. However, that situation is now coming to a close.
The company has announced that its stock for various capacities is nearly depleted, and the new inventory arriving is considerably more expensive. The current pricing reflects an average of the old and new stock, but Framework has cautioned that by next month, the remaining old inventory will be gone, and prices will be based on current market costs.
If you need a storage upgrade, it's advisable to place your order now while there's still some affordable stock available.
Regarding RAM, Framework noted that prices for DDR5 have remained relatively steady over the past few months—a small positive development. The 8GB module recently experienced a price increase because the more affordable batch Framework had previously sourced is now sold out, and the new modules have a higher cost.
Nonetheless, there hasn't been a drastic price hike, and prices for other memory capacities are currently holding steady at last month's rates.
Is there any chance prices will decrease?
With the rapid expansion of AI companies establishing new data centers, it's unlikely that RAM and storage prices will decrease in the near future. The ongoing conflict in Iran has also contributed to rising costs for PCBs, meaning expenses for electronics are set to climb.
Major companies such as Samsung, Sony, and Microsoft have already raised prices on their ongoing products. Recently, Nintendo followed suit by increasing the price of its popular Switch 2 gaming console.
Although there are suggestions that Apple may absorb costs and not raise prices for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, it is very likely that the new M6 MacBook Pros will see a significant price hike.
In summary, RAM and SSD prices are unlikely to drop anytime soon, so if you require an upgrade, it's prudent to do so sooner rather than later.

Microsoft's Windows 11 will manage its own driver issues.
No more nightmares of searching for faulty drivers after a problematic Windows update. Microsoft appears to be fulfilling its commitment to enhancing Windows 11. After the introduction of a new low-latency mode to expedite app launches and an update addressing the RAM memory leak issue, the company is testing a new feature that tackles one of its major challenges. Called Cloud-Initiated Driver Recovery, this feature can automatically revert a malfunctioning driver that was installed through Windows Update.
Apple, after issues with Siri, plans to include AI agents on the App Store.
One challenge involves an uncertain stance on whether Apple will charge for these services, while another revolves around the difficulty of managing AI agents. With WWDC 2026 approaching, reports suggest Apple is actively seeking developers to integrate their apps with the revamped Siri that will debut in iOS 27. The revised mechanism behind Siri, known as App Intents, is an API that enables Siri to perform actions in third-party apps without needing to open them—an advancement that sounds quite beneficial. However, several major developers are hesitating, not due to complexity, but because Apple has left the door open for future charges.
