LG G6 vs. C6 OLED TVs: What are the differences, and which one should you choose?
LG's 2026 OLED lineup is led by the G6, but the C6 is expected to be the model that many consumers will consider. On paper, both televisions share several features, including LG's new Alpha 11 AI processor Gen 3, along with comparable gaming elements and AI-powered tools.
Having seen both models in detail during LG's recent reviewer session at its U.S. headquarters in New Jersey, the similarities are even more noticeable, as well as the differences that set them apart.
The distinctions aren’t always immediately obvious. If you've been trying to understand what differentiates the G6 from the C6, and which one fits your setup better, here's what to consider.
The G6 is LG's flagship OLED model

The G6 is positioned as LG's premium offering, with a clear emphasis on brightness this year.
It features a new panel with Hyper Radiant technology and LG’s Brightness Booster Ultra system, claiming to deliver up to 3.9 times the brightness of a standard OLED. In practical use, this is most apparent in HDR highlights and brighter scenes, where the G6 provides more impact and improved visibility.
At the same time, LG retains the fundamental advantages of OLED. The G6 is certified for "perfect black" and "perfect color," ensuring that contrast and accuracy are preserved alongside the enhancements in brightness.
The C6 offers more than you might expect
Despite the G6's superior specs, the C6 does not feel like a significant downgrade.

It is equipped with the same Alpha 11 AI processor Gen 3 and shares many core features, such as Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and LG's upgraded AI-driven image and sound functionalities.
Although brightness is enhanced compared to prior generations, it does not match the peak levels of the G6. For most viewing conditions, the difference is noticeable but not overly dramatic unless you're directly comparing HDR-heavy content side by side.
Gaming performance is virtually the same
This is the area where the distinctions between the two models become almost negligible.
Both the G6 and C6 support 4K at 165Hz, as well as VRR, Nvidia G-Sync, and AMD FreeSync Premium. This level of support aligns them more closely with high-end gaming monitors rather than standard TVs.
LG is also emphasizing low input lag and smoother motion handling, making both models equally proficient for fast-paced gaming. If gaming is your main concern, there's little reason to prefer one over the other.
AI features are available on both models
Both models utilize the same processing platform, which is evident in their comparable feature sets.
AI Picture Pro provides real-time image optimization, while AI Sound Pro can simulate virtual 11.1.2 surround sound. Additionally, there's a personalization layer that tailors picture and audio settings to your preferences over time.
Filmmaker Mode with ambient light compensation adds another dimension by adjusting the image based on the room lighting without compromising accuracy.
Where the differences become noticeable

The primary differences are based on performance limits and positioning.
The G6 is designed to advance OLED technology, particularly in terms of brightness and overall visual impact. It also offers larger, premium size options, reaching up to 97 inches.
Conversely, the C6 is made to be more versatile. It starts at 42 inches and is priced to accommodate a more diverse range of setups, from bedrooms to living rooms.
So, which model is more suitable?
For most users, the C6 represents a more well-rounded choice. It provides the key enhancements LG is emphasizing this year, including improved brightness, updated processing, and robust gaming performance, all without entering flagship pricing.
The G6 still holds the advantage in peak performance, particularly if brightness is a top priority or if you're creating a high-end home theater. However, the gap between the two isn’t as significant in everyday use as one might anticipate.
