The Mac Pro has been removed from Apple's main store, but a limited selection of certified refurbished units offers professionals one final opportunity to buy directly from Apple.

In a rather disappointing update, Apple officially discontinued the Mac Pro on March 26, 2026. The system is no longer listed on the company's website in its previous location. To me, this feels like a rather unceremonious farewell for a machine that once set the standard for professional computing.

The product page now redirects users to the general Mac homepage. However, it is still possible to find a unit if you're willing to consider a used model. As of the time of writing, Apple's Certified Refurbished store has 17 units listed for purchase, which includes both tower-style desktops and rack-mount configurations.

Is it still possible to purchase a Mac Pro?

The least expensive used Mac Pro (tower-style) is priced at $6,289.00 and features the M2 Ultra chip with a 24-core CPU and a 60-core GPU. There’s another option (rack-mount) with the same chip, but it has a 24-core CPU and a 76-core GPU, costing $8,239.00.

The priciest model exceeds $10,000 for a tower-style version equipped with the same chip, 24-core CPU, and 76-core GPU.

While these prices may be steep, for professionals seeking easy PCIe expansion—something the Mac Studio still cannot offer—this might be the last chance to purchase one directly from Apple.

The refurbished unit includes Apple's one-year warranty

This device comes with Apple’s standard one-year limited warranty, which matches the coverage provided for brand-new devices. For added assurance, you can opt for AppleCare+ or AppleCare One during the checkout process. Additionally, there is a 14-day return policy and free shipping.

In my honest opinion, Apple’s refurbished stock is unlikely to last long. Once these units are sold out, Apple has made it very clear that there won’t be any more available. The company has confirmed it has no future plans for Mac Pro hardware.

If you have always desired a Mac Pro and are comfortable with acquiring it as a refurbished product from Apple, this is likely your last opportunity to do so.

M5 MacBook Pro tests indicate Apple is nearing a solution for its biggest weakness

Historically, Macs have faced one significant drawback: gaming. However, with the new M5 MacBook Pro, Apple may finally be addressing that issue. Recent testing by Andrew Tsai shows that the M5 Max MacBook Pro can run a variety of AAA Windows games smoothly, even using emulation layers like CrossOver.

This includes heavy titles like Horizon Forbidden West and Black Myth: Wukong. While not all games performed flawlessly, the majority ran “superbly” despite not being native macOS applications. It's quite surprising to consider that these Windows games are being run on an ARM-based Mac… via translation.

Avoid this $3 app that makes your MacBook groan, but I know you’re curious

This ridiculous $3 Mac app has gone viral for all the wrong reasons

There are useful apps, pointless apps, and then there’s SlapMac, which belongs in a category of its own. This app has gone viral online for one very silly (yet amusing) reason: it makes your MacBook emit sound effects when you slap it. Just give your Mac a smack, and you can hear it moan, fart, or throw punches. The app's creator reportedly made $5,000 in just three days, adding to the absurdity of the story.

Apple’s outrageous $700 wheels for its desktop PC are permanently discontinued

The $700 Apple wheels are no longer available; long live absurd tech accessories

Apple has officially discontinued the Mac Pro, which means the $700 Mac Pro Wheels Kit is also gone. Yes, that statement is still humorous in 2026. This marks the end of one of the company's most notorious desktop additions. For anyone who missed this saga, the Wheels Kit was launched in 2020 as an upgrade for the Mac Pro. It allowed users to add wheels for $400, but purchasing the standalone kit later cost a staggering $700 since the base model came with standard feet. Apple also offered a separate $300 Feet Kit for those who wished to switch back.
