Spotify invites you to discover music in a completely new way with SongDNA.
The beta feature delves into the essence of your favorite songs.
Spotify is elevating music discovery with its new beta feature, SongDNA. The platform has officially introduced this interactive tool that allows users to investigate the connections within songs, encompassing collaborators, samples, and creative inspirations.
Currently in beta, this feature is being gradually rolled out, with early access available through Spotify’s preview programs. SongDNA primarily aims to answer a fundamental question: what connections does this song have to the other music you enjoy?
What is SongDNA, specifically?
Consider SongDNA a musical exploration that transcends merely playing a track. Unlike viewing songs as isolated works, Spotify is integrating them into a broader network of connections. With SongDNA, one song serves as a launchpad for listeners to investigate everything from the artists and producers involved to the samples it may have drawn from, and even the other songs it has impacted over time.
The aim is to create a more organic and interactive music discovery experience. Instead of relying on algorithm-generated recommendations alone, SongDNA allows users to follow creative threads by transitioning from one song to another based on real-world connections. This evokes the sensation of falling into a music rabbit hole, where each link leads to another fascinating discovery, enhancing the listening experience beyond a standard playlist shuffle.
When will you be able to try SongDNA?
Spotify has historically been adept at predicting what listeners may enjoy next, but SongDNA takes an alternative approach. Rather than offering random recommendations, it focuses on the rationale behind the connections between songs—including producers, writers, samples, and collaborations. This makes the experience feel less algorithmic and more like an in-depth exploration of music itself.
However, not everyone can participate at this stage. SongDNA is currently in limited beta, available to selected users and artists through Spotify for Artists Preview, with no clear timeline for broader access. Nonetheless, if this is the direction Spotify is heading in, it represents an exciting change.

I've been advocating for nearly a year that TCL is making strides in the premium TV market. The QM8K marked the beginning, the QM9K affirmed it, and now the X11L is the culmination of these efforts. This represents TCL's most ambitious television yet, and there's no competition.
What makes the X11L particularly intriguing is its underlying technology. While much of the industry is focusing on RGB Mini-LED backlights, TCL has opted for a different approach with what it calls Super Quantum Dot, or SQD. Instead of using separate red, green, and blue LEDs for the backlight, SQD relies on a single-color LED backlight paired with a new generation of quantum dot particles and an enhanced color filter. The outcome is broader color representation, significantly higher brightness, and a thinner panel than what RGB Mini-LED can currently produce. After weeks of using this TV, I believe TCL made the right decision.
In this episode of You Asked, we discuss TV reliability, clarify the meaning of QLED Plus, and determine if the ultra-bright Hisense U9 is worth its price. Additionally, we address the confusion surrounding Mini LED versus edge-lit TVs to ensure you make informed purchases.
