Meta AI will help resolve account problems on Instagram and Facebook. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it’s effective.
Meta’s AI aims to address issues and identify scams before users even notice.
Meta is introducing a couple of AI enhancements for Facebook and Instagram, both of which are genuinely beneficial. One enhancement aims to expedite help requests, while the other seeks to enhance safety for all users. If successful, these updates could significantly enhance the overall experience on Meta's platforms.
Is it finally becoming easier to get assistance on Facebook and Instagram?
The first part of this rollout is an AI support assistant that Meta is globally launching on Facebook and Instagram for iOS and Android devices. If you've ever found yourself clicking through the Help Center for answers, only to come up empty-handed, or spent hours on YouTube seeking solutions, you understand how frustrating that can be.
Meta’s AI assistant is intended to eliminate the need for such extensive searching. Integrated into both apps, it can respond to your requests in under five seconds. More importantly, it goes beyond just providing suggestions; it can take action on your behalf. It is capable of updating your name, changing the visibility of your posts, adjusting your profile settings, and more.
The assistant can also aid users with account access problems. This feature is currently being rolled out to selected users in the US and Canada.
What additional benefits are included in this AI initiative?
Meta is also working on improving its content moderation system with the help of AI. The company has been testing more sophisticated AI enforcement mechanisms, and the initial outcomes have been encouraging.
According to Meta, these systems are detecting 5,000 scam attempts daily that current review teams had overlooked, decreasing reports of impersonation by more than 80%, and identifying twice the amount of violating adult content while reducing enforcement errors by over 60%.
The AI can also uncover subtle account takeovers and fraudulent websites mimicking legitimate brands. One test led to a 7% decrease in the views of scam ads. These systems now support languages spoken by 98% of internet users, up from approximately 80 languages previously.
Meta assures that human reviewers will remain in play, continuing to manage the most complicated decisions, such as appeals for account disablement and law enforcement referrals. Meanwhile, AI will tackle repetitive, high-volume tasks, enabling humans to concentrate on complex judgments that necessitate human insight.
