Ring has now made it possible for everyone to utilize the Neighbors app to report and locate lost pets.

Ring unites AI and community to help locate lost pets

Millions of dogs go missing annually in the US, turning an ordinary walk or an open gate into a stressful experience for their owners. Ring aims to streamline these searches and enhance community involvement.

The company has introduced its Search Party for Dogs feature, allowing anyone with a lost pet to request assistance through the Neighbors app, even if they do not possess a Ring camera.

For those unfamiliar, Search Party for Dogs is an AI-powered feature launched a few months prior, enabling Ring camera owners to collaborate in reporting and identifying missing dogs within their neighborhoods.

Now, Ring is broadening its reach, allowing all pet owners to utilize this shared network of neighbors and outdoor cameras in the event of a dog going missing.

How the Search Party for Dogs operates within the Neighbors app

Pet owners can report a lost dog in the Neighbors app by uploading images and details. This information is shared with nearby Ring users, whose outdoor cameras may assist in identifying potential matches.

The system leverages AI to compare the reported missing dog with animals that appear on Ring’s outdoor cameras. Note that indoor Ring cameras are not involved in this feature. If a Ring camera captures footage of a dog that might match the description, the camera owner receives an alert with an image of the dog and relevant video clips.

At that point, the camera owner can choose how to proceed: they can share the footage with the pet owner, contact them directly, or simply dismiss the Search Party and Community Requests alerts.

Ring's goal is to foster a collective effort in finding lost dogs, rather than leaving owners to navigate the situation alone. By making Search Party for Dogs accessible to all through the Neighbors app, Ring believes that community cooperation, AI technology, and goodwill can expedite the reunion process for lost pets.

In additional Ring news, the company has introduced a security seal designed to prevent tampering with camera footage, reinforcing its commitment to trust and transparency.

Manisha reports on technology that impacts daily life, covering everything from smartphones and apps to gaming and streaming.

HAVIT Space S1 wireless headphones offer adaptive ANC and natural spatial audio

For those who depend on headphones to navigate their daily routines, there is a well-known and frustrating cycle. You purchase a pair based on marketing promises of quiet in a chaotic subway, 3D sound like in a concert hall, and flawless calls, yet reality often falls short. A week in, you realize that the "active" noise cancellation falters with every gust of wind, the "spatial audio" sounds artificially echoed, and the touch controls are so sensitive that you inadvertently hang up on your boss while adjusting the volume.

These frustrations are not merely trivial; they highlight how technology can become burdensome. The specifications mean little if the device is irritating to operate. This disconnect is precisely what HAVIT aims to address with its new SPACE Series, particularly the flagship SPACE S1. Rather than pursuing gimmicks, they have crafted a device that aims to resolve the real challenges users encounter: unpredictable silence, unnatural sound quality, and overly sensitive controls.
