Palma 2 Pro — a little more than an e-reader.
A new model with a color display has appeared in the ONYX BOOX reader lineup. The Palma 2 Pro retains a compact body, but its screen can now show illustrations not only in shades of gray.
The device is built around a 6.13-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 display. It displays up to 4096 colors, which can be considered an option for viewing magazines, comics, or textbooks with color diagrams. In black-and-white mode the resolution is 824x1648 pixels, in color — 412x824. The screen features MOON Light 2 frontlight with adjustable color temperature and protective glass. In addition to the touch layer, support for a stylus for note-taking has been added, which is sold separately.
What the thin body hides
The hardware platform includes an octa-core processor, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. This allows the device to run Android 15 and launch various applications, including those from Google Play.
Connectivity is provided by dual-band Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 for connecting accessories and a SIM card slot for mobile internet. It is worth noting that the device supports data transmission only; voice calls are not possible. The body houses a USB-C port with OTG function, a mono speaker, a microphone for voice notes and a 16 MP camera. The latter is used with the built-in software for text recognition. The manufacturer also added splash protection and a fingerprint scanner in the power button.
Software features for working with text
The main emphasis is on built-in applications for reading and annotating. The NeoReader supports many formats, including PDF and DjVu. For complex documents manual cropping of margins, contrast adjustment and increasing font weight are available. The system allows translating words or text fragments using online services, using dictionaries and a text-to-speech function.
The interface can be used in portrait or landscape orientation — an accelerometer handles screen rotation. There are physical buttons on the side edges whose actions can be customized by the user. The manufacturer also offers hybrid covers compatible with this model.
The Palma 2 Pro reader looks like a multifunctional pocket e‑ink device with a focus on working with texts and documents. The model is available in black and white.
