ChatGPT may soon receive a powerful tool that will fundamentally transform how AI serves you.

Imagine instructing ChatGPT to execute a multi-step task using just a single word.

One of the major obstacles in utilizing AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini is the lack of transparency regarding their internal processes. While you may have a general idea of the anticipated outcome based on your instructions, understanding how the AI generates that outcome remains elusive. This complexity increases with multi-step tasks. This is where Skills come into play.

      What’s the significant change?

Consider skills as a series of commands that can be activated with a single word. The creators of Claude, Anthropic, have recently rolled out Agent skills, a tool that employs natural language descriptions to instruct an AI agent to carry out a specific task.

Notably, OpenAI has incorporated support for Agent Skills in ChatGPT Codex. According to AIRPM engineer and coding expert Tibor Blaho, agentic skills will soon become available in ChatGPT as well. He also mentioned that OpenAI may provide "an option to convert a custom GPT into a skill," which would represent a considerable advancement.

Skills are not a new concept. Custom GPTs for ChatGPT and Gems for Gemini fulfill a similar role. Additionally, AI browsers like Dia allow for skill creation, while Perplexity’s Comet browser utilizes similar shortcut concepts.

But what’s the reason behind skills?

Skills can be created without any technical or coding experience. You can develop them using natural language prompts and select a name for each one. For instance, I have created a skill called "research," with the instruction as follows: “When a phrase or term is provided, look it up in peer-reviewed journals and scientific publications, find the most cited papers, and summarize the main findings as bullet points.” You can see how the skills builder functions within the Dia browser.

Thus, the next time I need to investigate a topic, I can simply invoke the skill by its name followed by the query, eliminating the need to draft a detailed prompt each time. With the skill in place, I can just use a brief command like “/research Manhattan Project,” and I will receive the response formatted exactly how I want it.

Moreover, another significant advantage of the Agent Skills platform coming to ChatGPT is that they are an open standard. This means these skills will operate effectively across various AI chatbots, including Claude, Copilot, and Gemini, just as they do with ChatGPT.

Paradox Customs has unveiled a striking new option in its prebuilt PC configurator: the ability to order a system without any RAM installed. The boutique PC builder states that this decision is a response to the widespread memory shortage and soaring DRAM prices currently troubling the industry, which have made it challenging for system builders to maintain stock at a stable price. For those who already have RAM sticks at home or wish to find a better deal, this option allows them to avoid the "RAM tax" that has been inflating prebuilt costs.

Mozilla is set to introduce a Firefox AI kill switch, although users will have to wait until 2026 to access it. In response to a communal open letter on Reddit directed at Mozilla’s new CEO, a Mozilla representative, using the username anthony-firefox, announced that a genuine kill switch for disabling AI features is anticipated to arrive in Q1 2026. This response aims to alleviate concerns among users, emphasizing that Firefox must cater to a broad audience—including developers, Linux users, students, parents, and those who do not adjust default settings—and will remain focused on user control. The letter, authored by a self-identified developer and regular user, posits that the issue lies more in execution than ambition, especially when user feedback goes unanswered.

The role of AI PCs could be pivotal in workforce transformation. The potential and impact of artificial intelligence in professional settings have moved beyond theoretical discussions. AI tools now enhance workflows, create content, and provide insights at unprecedented speeds. However, for many professionals, harnessing AI’s full potential may still feel unattainable—not due to technological constraints, but because they lack the skills to utilize it.

AI PCs are designed to bridge this gap. These next-generation devices include on-device AI optimization, natural language models, and smart workflows embedded within the operating system. These advancements will fundamentally redefine digital work, enabling employees to acquire new skills and foster a better understanding of collaborating with AI in a manner that is intuitive, secure, and efficient.
