Apple's foldable phone may arrive in 2026, but it won't be available for purchase just yet.

You may need to wait longer to actually purchase Apple's foldable iPhone

Apple's much-anticipated foray into the foldable smartphone arena is beginning to seem more tangible, but if you're hoping to secure one on the launch day, you might want to lower your expectations. Recent reports indicate that obtaining the inaugural foldable iPhone might be more challenging than anticipated. The device, commonly referred to as the "iPhone Fold," is still slated for a late 2026 release, but supply chain issues may mean that they will not be readily available on shelves until well into 2027.

The iPhone Fold could debut in 2026, but getting one might be difficult

According to reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the development of the foldable iPhone has fallen behind Apple's initial internal timeline. However, the company is still predicted to unveil the phone in the latter half of 2026, likely alongside the iPhone 18 series during the typical September event. Kuo emphasizes that while the announcement is expected to happen, the actual production face challenges.

Foldable phones are notoriously difficult to produce, especially due to the flexible displays and complex hinges necessary for durability. Kuo warns that Apple may encounter initial production issues, leading to slow factory output. As a result, inventory may be very limited in the months following the launch, with more stable supply not materializing until sometime in 2027.

It feels reminiscent of the iPhone X launch in 2017

That model featured a significant redesign but was extremely difficult to find initially due to manufacturing constraints. If history is any indicator, the iPhone Fold may be a rare product at launch, with considerable shipping delays for anyone who doesn't act quickly with their pre-order.

Leaked specifications hint at a high-end, “book-style” design akin to the Galaxy Z Fold. It is expected to have a 5.25-inch outer display and a large 7.8-inch inner display, which would uniquely give Apple both its smallest and largest iPhone screens in a single device. Rumors also suggest the inclusion of under-display cameras for a streamlined appearance and possibly a return to side-mounted Touch ID instead of Face ID to conserve space.

Internally, the device is anticipated to be powered by the next-generation A20 Pro chip, ensuring that performance will not be an issue despite its foldable design.

As for pricing? Get ready. Estimates suggest it will be around $2,400 (approximately Rs 2,15,000), which is significantly higher than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series. This price point, combined with expected limited supply, indicates that the iPhone Fold is likely to serve more as a "halo product" rather than a mainstream success initially.

The takeaway for potential buyers is straightforward: even if Apple showcases the foldable iPhone in 2026, you'll probably need some patience. Real availability, where you can casually walk into a store to buy one, may not occur until 2027.

OnePlus 15R launches with an impressively large battery, along with a new tablet competitor

OnePlus is concluding the year strongly with robust smartphone and tablet releases.

The company has officially introduced a trio of new products after teasing all three for several months. Leading the pack is the OnePlus 15R, featuring a massive 7,400mAh battery that exceeds the already substantial battery of its flagship counterpart, the OnePlus 15, by 100mAh.

After a day of testing the OnePlus 15R, I've discovered two of its less flashy features that stand out to me. This isn't about a new mode or feature; the phone excels in delivering two fundamental aspects better than most competitors on the market today.

This budget-friendly alternative to the OnePlus 15 has a price tag of $699.99 for 256GB storage (or $100 more for 512GB), effectively undercutting its sibling by a significant $200, although it represents a $100 increase over the OnePlus 13R (despite the absence of a zoom camera). It was launched alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2, an economical Android tablet, at the end of 2025.

Android may soon allow users to prevent others from accessing Wi-Fi networks on shared devices

Android is finally empowering users to determine who has automatic access to saved networks on shared phones and tablets.

Google is developing a new suite of Wi-Fi controls for Android that will allow users to designate whether a saved Wi-Fi network is accessible to other profiles on the same device (as reported by Android Authority). Currently, when a device connects to a Wi-Fi network, all other profiles on that device gain automatic access without verification. However, a new "Share Network" toggle in the latest Android Canary build allows users to disable this feature, so only the profile that entered the credentials can
