SpaceX receives significant support for Starship launches at Cape Canaveral.

The aerospace company aims to broaden its Starship launches beyond Texas.

SpaceX has received significant support for its Starship operations at Cape Canaveral in Florida, following the Department of the Air Force (DAF) approving the development of the Space Launch Complex-37 (SLC-37) launch facility.

Preparatory construction at the site began earlier this year, but the DAF's approval allows SpaceX to proceed with the major construction of a launchpad for its powerful Starship rocket.

This approval was granted after an extensive environmental assessment that examined the effects of Starship launches on nearby wildlife, along with a safety evaluation.

SpaceX is working on several Starship launch sites on Florida’s Space Coast, including a launchpad at Launch Complex-39A (LC-39A), where construction has also commenced. The target is to achieve up to 76 Starship launches annually from SLC-37 and as many as 44 launches each year from LC-39A, with the first round of launches anticipated to begin next year or in 2027, depending on regulatory clearance and infrastructure preparedness.

SpaceX also intends to modify Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) for Starship operations. This site currently primarily handles Falcon 9 launches, SpaceX’s main rocket.

“With three launch pads in Florida, Starship will be poised to support America’s national security and Artemis objectives as the world’s leading spaceport evolves to facilitate operations similar to an airport,” SpaceX remarked in a post on X, highlighting its goal of achieving quick turnaround times for the reuse of its rockets.

To date, SpaceX has conducted all 11 of its Starship launches from its Starbase location in southern Texas. It is currently constructing a new launchpad for its next-generation Starship rocket and plans to renovate the original pad, which will provide a total of five Starship launchpads across two states.

Once fully operational, the Starship, the most powerful rocket ever flown, will be utilized for manned and cargo missions to the moon, and potentially to Mars as well, although there remains significant work to prepare the rocket.

SpaceX encounters a setback for its lunar landing Starship mission, according to reports.

Internal documents reveal a revised timeline for the eagerly awaited mission. NASA plans to launch its highly anticipated Artemis III mission by mid-2027 at the earliest, marking the first human landing on the moon since the last Apollo mission in 1972. However, SpaceX, which is responsible for the mission's lunar lander, estimates that it will not be ready until at least September 2028, based on information from internal SpaceX documents reviewed by Politico.

NASA reminded viewers on Monday that its four volunteers have now completed a month inside the Mars simulation habitat, although they still have 344 days remaining before their exit. A short video was released showing the four-person CHAPEA (Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog) crew entering the Mars Dune Alpha habitat on October 19, where they are living "like Martian explorers" to aid NASA in its preparations for future human missions to the moon, and subsequently to Mars for the first crewed mission to the distant planet.

Following SpaceX’s 11th Starship test flight from Pad 1 at its Starbase facility in southern Texas just over a month ago, engineers began dismantling the launchpad for an upgrade to a more advanced design. This week, NASASpaceflight provided footage of a SpaceX excavator working on the site, taking down the first of four massive legs that comprised the pad’s Orbital Launch Mount (OLM), a robust steel platform that supports and fuels the Starship at the launch site. A person can be seen standing in the center of the video, offering a striking perspective of the scene.
