Chinese technology company Vivo unveiled its annual flagship, the Vivo X300 series, in Shanghai on Monday. Focused on a Zeiss 200MP imaging system, the series includes both a standard model and a Pro variant. Marking the 30th anniversary of the Vivo brand, the X300 series brings significant upgrades in imaging, performance, design, and software.
The X300 Pro is equipped with the LYT-828 gimbal main camera co-developed with Sony, featuring a large 1/1.28-inch sensor and CIPA 5.5-level stabilization. It also showcases the world’s first Zeiss 200MP APO super-telephoto lens with 4X lossless optical zoom.
Why it matters: With the introduction of cutting-edge imaging technologies in collaboration with Sony and Zeiss, Vivo aims to rival leading flagship models and enhance its standing in mobile photography innovation.
Details: The Vivo X300 starts at RMB 4,399 ($620) for the 12GB+256GB version, while the X300 Pro has a starting price of RMB 5,299 ($745) for the 12GB+256GB model.
The X300 series incorporates an imaging system co-developed by Vivo and Zeiss, optimized for both technical specifications and real-world photography. The Pro model includes an 85mm Zeiss 200MP APO super-telephoto lens, a large 1/1.4-inch sensor, and an f/2.67 aperture. With CIPA 5.5-level stabilization, it is capable of handheld shooting for 4K 120fps Dolby Vision HDR videos, making it suitable for concerts, sports, and other fast-paced scenes.
The standard model also features a 200MP Zeiss main camera, with CIPA 4.5-level stabilization. It introduces a “one photo, multiple crops” function that enables users to create several compositions from a single shot, as well as generate short AI-driven three-scene story videos with just one click.
Globally launched with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and a jointly developed imaging NPU, the X300 series is complemented by Vivo’s proprietary V3+ imaging chip for dual-chip synergy. The Pro model scores over 4.1 million on AnTuTu under standard conditions. Running on OriginOS 6, it also introduces Vivo’s first ecosystem connectivity with Apple devices.
The X300 series features 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and full-brightness DC dimming, with a minimum brightness of 1 nit for a more comfortable viewing experience in low-light environments.
Context: In the first half of 2025, smartphone shipments in China reached 140.6 million units, accounting for approximately 23% of the global market. In the intensively competitive RMB 4,000–6,000 ($562–$842) price range, local brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi, and Vivo implemented high-end strategies to increase their market share, together capturing over 60%, while Apple’s shipments declined 27.35% compared to the previous year, as reported by Sina Finance.
