Russian schoolchildren gained access to the best educational online content

Russian teachers and schoolchildren now have convenient and free access to a vast library of modern educational materials. This was made possible by a large-scale update to the "My School" platform on the Gosuslugi portal.

Now teachers can easily prepare lessons using vetted content, and students can receive and complete homework directly in their usual app.

The main advantage of the new feature is that all content in the library strictly complies with the federal educational standards of the Ministry of Education. The state has fully funded the project, so all materials for teachers and students are completely free.

The platform opens up great opportunities for creativity. A teacher can assemble a unique course by combining materials from various developers. A convenient search and curation system helps quickly find what is needed. At the same time the system will show how the selected material relates to the school curriculum.

To assign work to students, there is no longer any need to print anything or send materials to a dozen different chats. It is enough to show a QR code — and students or their parents can immediately open the lesson in the "Gosuslugi My School" app. The service itself will look after children's health by limiting computer time in accordance with regulations. And the teacher can always see how their class is mastering the material.

Access to the extensive library is open to any teacher in Russia. All that is required is a verified account on Gosuslugi and access to their region's electronic diary. The system automatically determines which subjects and grades the teacher teaches and shows them only relevant materials.

      How to connect a child?

For a schoolchild to be able to use all the library's features, consent must be given for access to materials and for processing performance data. For children under 14, this consent is given by a parent via the "Gosuslugi My School" app. After their fourteenth birthday, the teenager can do this independently.

In addition to assignments from teachers, students and parents can always find many free supplementary materials in the "My School" open catalog for self-study.

Meanwhile, China has announced plans to integrate artificial intelligence into its education system. This is not about one-off initiatives or pilot projects, but about a full-fledged national strategy that is intended to change how millions of people are taught and learn — from first-graders to university students.
