As one of the largest gaming events globally, Gamescom has become a significant link between Europe and the worldwide industry. This year, several Chinese games will present new trailers or provide hands-on demos to international players for the first time, indicating their confidence in their offerings and a stronger commitment to interacting with global audiences.
With changing industry dynamics and evolving player expectations, Chinese developers face a challenge that extends beyond technology: marrying local cultural depth with global trends. From August 20 to 24 at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne's Koelnmesse, Chinese developers will showcase a diverse array of games, including RPGs (role-playing games), wuxia (martial arts) action, sci-fi adventures, and mobile hits.
Game Science: Black Myth: Wukong returns with an anniversary showcase and potential new announcements. Black Myth: Wukong, the much-anticipated action RPG from Game Science, will participate in Gamescom 2025, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the game's initial launch. This is a strategic opportunity for the studio to engage both domestic and international audiences.
Fans are eagerly anticipating major announcements, although the studio has not confirmed specifics. Speculation centers on the launch trailer for the Xbox version and a possible DLC announcement for Black Myth: Wukong. The media and fans are also hoping for hints about new developments in the Black Myth universe.
Beijing S-Game: Phantom Blade Zero offers its first demonstration abroad. The Chinese single-player wuxia game Shadow Blade: Zero will provide a one-hour demo at Gamescom 2025, marking its first opportunity for international players to experience the game. The booth will span approximately 500 square meters and feature 60 demo stations for attendees.
During Gamescom, Shadow Blade: Zero will also be showcased on the Future Games Show stage hosted by Xbox on August 21, presenting the game to audiences through online streaming and live demonstrations.
miHoYo: Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero will take the spotlight with new content and a collaboration with Aston Martin. The company has confirmed its participation and will present its major titles: Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero. At the Genshin Impact booth, visitors can preview the upcoming in-game region, Nod-Krai, while Honkai: Star Rail will introduce the newly revealed Amphoreus location. Zenless Zone Zero will showcase its new in-game faction, Spook Shack. Each booth will feature unique offline activities and exclusive merchandise for fans.
miHoYo’s action game Zenless Zone Zero has announced a significant partnership with British luxury sports car manufacturer Aston Martin. The two companies will set up a real-life exhibition area for Aston Martin at Gamescom. A collaboration preview video has been released, showcasing a futuristic sports car design that merges the game’s mechanical aesthetics with cyberpunk city style.
Tencent Games: diverse offerings include shooters, RPGs, sandbox worlds, and worldwide mobile debuts. Tencent Games will present a varied lineup, including the anime-style shooter Fate Trigger, which will debut a new trailer at Opening Night Live, the first offline PC demo of Honor of Kings: World, the cross-platform sandbox Interstellar Utopia, a ghost-themed mobile update co-developed with KRAFTON, and Rust Mobile’s global hands-on debut.
The collaborative action Roguelike shooter that Tencent Games plans to reveal at Gamescom 2025 has yet to be named and will feature an immersive demo for players around the world.

In recent years, Chinese developers have arrived with considerable momentum: Black Myth: Wukong has sold approximately 21.73 million units worldwide, including 16.88 million in China and 4.55 million internationally, while miHoYo continues to lead the global mobile market with its flagship titles, generating billions of dollars in annual revenue from Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero. Collectively, Chinese studios are increasingly influencing the global gaming landscape.
