Recently, a significant shortage of DJI drones across various US retailers has sparked inquiries regarding the company’s operations in the American market. As reported by tech outlet The Verge, the drone sections at Best Buy have been largely emptied, with only older models and refurbished items available online. On Amazon's US platform, there are limited remaining units offered by third-party sellers, while DJI's official US store shows several out-of-stock alerts.

This issue has raised concerns among consumers and industry analysts, prompting The Verge to question whether "DJI is exiting the US drone market?"

In response, a DJI representative stated that the company is dedicated to the US market and is currently collaborating with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to address a "customs-related misunderstanding." The spokesperson clarified that the ongoing stock shortage is due to issues with customs clearance and import procedures. DJI is actively working to restore supply, they added.

Meanwhile, Best Buy has refuted claims of halting sales of DJI products, though the retailer did not provide further information regarding the inventory shortage.

On Wednesday, The Verge quoted DJI spokesperson Daisy Kong saying: "DJI remains committed to the US market. As we’ve previously mentioned, DJI has been engaging with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to resolve a customs-related misunderstanding. Unfortunately, this has affected our capability to stock and import drones and parts. We understand the frustration of our customers, but we remain hopeful that this will be resolved."

Currently, DJI dominates the global drone market, possessing over 70% of the worldwide market share and approximately 80% in the US, according to US drone industry publication DroneLife. Its drones are extensively utilized across industries such as filmmaking, agriculture, infrastructure inspection, and public safety, and are recognized for their advanced technology and competitive pricing.
